    Re: Vortex 6-24x50 pst good for Bench rest ? Another vote for Sightron. Just bought my third SIII. I have two 10-50X60s and one 8-32X56. Unlike tactical shooting - in benchrest you typically want as much magnification as you can get and these scopes deliver.

    Re: FFP.....is it worth money As previous posts mention it depends on what kind of shooting you plan on doing. For the type of shooting I do - I wouldn't buy a FFP scope even if they were cheaper than SFP scopes. I like extremely fine reticles at very high magnifications.

    Re: HS Precision Savage stock not perfectly straight Yeah - the 338 LM is a long action (110). It has three action screws so yours may be different. Mine had the torque specs for the stock in the owners manual for the rifle.

    Re: HS Precision Savage stock not perfectly straight On my Savage 110FCP (HS Precision) 338 LM - I tighten the front two action screws to 40 in/lbs and the rear to 30 in/lbs. Savage recommends 40 in/lbs for this rifle.

    Re: dpms trigger I thought it was fairly easy and I didn't have any issues - YMMV. You do need to make sure the trigger functions properly and that the safety works after replacing the trigger.

    Re: rcbs chargemaster All my powder is thrown with a Chargemaster now after using a beam scale for many years. I haven't noticed any difference in the accuracy of my ammunition. I'm currently loading for a benchrest rifle in 6BR (Varget) and a 338 LM (Retumbo). I'll never go back.

    Re: Sightron SIII SS 8x32x56 Deal or pass? At that price I wouldn't expect that scope to be at the gun shop very long. I would have bought it on the spot. I have two Sightron SIII 10-50X60s and they are one of the best scopes available in my opinion.

    Re: sightron dented tubes?? Don't know about the S1 or S2's but I use Sightron SIII scopes with Leupold MK4 rings (both steel and aluminum). I have one on a 338 LM that has been taken off once and there were no marks or dents.
