Ha! That's mine! Though, Mark threw it in that stock to test fire it. It's in a Manners T4A as we speak. She will sit in a folder soon though.

How does that tank brake work for you?

"Death in the Long Grass" krylon job and texture work on an HS Precision LTR stock, Badger M5 inlet, PTG Stealth DBM, Accushot bipod rail, Karsten cheek riser. Barreled action is a Rem AAC, 1:10 twist, cut to 18, threaded, turned in and re-chambered, new recoil lug, bolt knob, #8 scope mount bolts, and 2.5 lb tuned trigger - all work by SAC. Seekins 20moa rail, Nightforce alloy rings and Trijicon TR24 Accupoint with German #4 reticle. Atlas bipod and AAC 762SDN-6 suppressor.

Mark at Short Action Customs did the work for me.
The action has been trued and it has been fitted with an 18" Bartlein heavy varmint in 1-8" twist. It is throated to run 75AMAX real well. It is in a McMillan adj HTG with the spacer system with a Badger M5 and a USO ST-10, with USO base, rings, and level. I am still working on my load for it, but so far it is looking real good. I am super pleased with the gun. The only thing i want for it is a Timney trigger. I have one on my other 700 and I like it a lot. I'd like to get ahold of a box or two of Lapua brass for it also. I have been using WW which has been working out okay too. Right now my load is RL15, WW brass, FED match primers, and 75 AMAX.

I'll have to get some better pics with the scope on there. I'm running a Swarovski z5 3.5-18x44 with the Ballistic Turret. This will mainly be a hunting rig and the occasional good time at the range.

18" 6.5 Creedmoor
Bartlein 8.5 spiral fluted barrel
LTR stock (makes the barrel look longer than 18")
Getting the 130vld's to 2810fps with the suppressor

I updated my 6.5 Creedmoor critter getter. Had Short-Bus paint my T5A with a special B logo (Boston Red Sox for those that don't recognize it) in a 4 color flectern.

Barrel is 18" and Suppressor is a SAS Arbiter covered with a TAB cover.

We built this 16.25" barrel .308 for a friend of mine last year. We're getting ready to build something somewhat similar on another friend's Model Seven.

This one has a Rock #5 fluted barrel.

Love these shorter rifles. Every time a customer has us build one I end up wanting one very badly. I owned a 16.25" .308 and am sorry I had to sell it.

I am thinking of cutting my 308 rifle down to 20"

Currently it is a 23" tube.

I am thinking that there will be little velocity loss. I bought it with the idea of pushing 180s a little faster. But now I have a 375 Ruger, so I am less interested in the extra it of power . . .

So, is the increased "handiness" offest by the small velocity loss?

I did, and cut my .308 barrel to 20" afterwards.

And it looks awesome, have fun at the range.
Good shooting.

Don't know much about shorties, so have a few questions as I am interested in putting one together.

If you still want to shoot out to 1000yrds at MOA or sub MOA what is the best caliber and how short can you go?
What about barrel twist, what is the calculation to determine best twist rate as you decrease barrel length?
I gather as you decrease length you also need to consider stepping up muzzle velocity, is there some form of ratio for this?

Thanks for any in put.
