As my eyesight diminishes, I've noticed I'm having more difficulty with the narrow rear notch on my .45acp, particularly when the days are darker or in the evening. What are your recommendations for a fix...new eyeglasses, hi-vis paint, larger notch in the rear. Ahh for the days of 20 year old eyes....LONG gone!

With my Springfield I installed a Dawson fiber optic front sight, get the .010 and it will give you enough light on the sides. You can get different height sights also. My Range officer's sight was a little low for me. Also order the green fiber replacement rods it will show up the most. I also use a par of glasses with about 1.25 power to sharpen the front sight picture. I shoot competition matches and it works great for me. 63 years young!!

The Harrison Retro rear sight works very well and maintains simple GI lines (if you don't want to modify your pistol too much). You'll need a higher front sight as well.

John often recommends a gold bead in the front sight as well.
