2007-2013 Toyota Tacoma?? Looking for actual mileage one could expect.

I have a 2008 Tundra crew max but was thinking of switching to a Tacoma for better fuel economy .


Was wonder if any if you guys had the Pre Runners or 4x4 double cabs and what kind if mileage you were getting on average and how hard you were driving them?

I know what the sticker says , but that never means shit lol.

I had a 2006 4 door 4.0L that only averaged 15 city. But I live in the mountains, no flat land around here.. My Crewmax with 35's averages 13.5 city.

My 09 4 cyl auto gets 26 hwy 21 around town, typical tank runs 23-24 MPG, a friend with the same truck with the 6cyl averages around 18

08 4 cyl 4x4 manual ext cab. On long highway trips keeping up with traffic I average 24-24.5. Long two lane blacktop at 60 or so ekes out 25. I'd say week to week my overall average is probably 23.

I just switched from a 2011 Tundra Rock Warrior to a 6cyl Tacoma just this May. Best my Tundra ever did was 15mpg. Best my Tacoma has done is 21, probably averages 17-18. It was worth the switch since I'm paying for my own gas now. That Tundra was FAST though ! I miss that aspect and I'm considering supercharging the 6 banger sometime soon. Oh, and if you're paying attention, be sure you're putting REAL gas in your ride. F'n Ethanol isn't worth a fuck in any vehicle. It's hard to find real gas, especially out in the place I live now (Eastern SD).

2012 Tacoma, Crew-cab 4x4.... Driving to my day job I get 21MPG (99% highway). Second job, I get 18MPG (running around on the range and the back roads). This is my second one - I used to have a 2008 Tacoma. Their resale value is spectacular!

The AFE dry filter was a nice addition and I run Mobile 1 Synthetic and Red Line Synthetic in my difs and transfer case. Every little bit helps...oh and I use Redline Moly grease in the CV and all the lube zerks.

Had a 2006 PreRunner access cab, V6 4.0L. On stock rims and tires (265/70/16) I got up to 20mpg freeway. Swapped out for 265/75/16's and total average city/freeway was about 17.5 which was really about 18.3 given 5% circumference difference since I didn't reset the computer to new tire size.

Currently have a 2013 4X4 double cab, V6 4.0L. Have full ARB/OME suspension and 265/75/16 tires. Getting about 15.5 mpg which should really be about 16.3 mpg ... need to get computer reset to bigger tires.

I drive 75 on freeways.

I love my 2006 Tundra double cab, getting 15.5 in town 19 highway, the most I ever got was 21 but the previous owner was running 45psi in the tires that should have been around 32psi, LOL.

'06 Tacoma V6 double cab 2WD with 96k on it; 18.5 (summer - AC on) - 20 (rest of the year) in Vegas traffic. 21 on the open highway.

I used to have 2009 Tacoma Crew-cab 4x4 V6 and got around 20-21mpg on highway and ~16mpg mixed city/highway. I liked the taco because it drove like a car but worked like a truck.

I just bought a 2013 Tacoma double cab 4x4, V6 automatic. When I drive to work from East Texas to Decatur on which is all highway I get mid 19's. I drive justs shy of 70 mph and try not to get the rpms over 2K. Granted I have not run a FULL tank all hwy as I drive from home to work 170 miles then the rest is kinda piddlin around work or to town, etc. Then I have to fill up on the way home and drive home, then the same when I get there......piddlin around. 18.2-19.5 mpg is about what I get hand calculated.

I have an 07 Tacoma double cab prerunner, v6 auto. Totally stock, with a long bed and a shell, and about 250lb of junk in it all the time. I've been tracking mileage since the day I bought it. I get an average of 20.5 lately where my commute is 42 miles each way, 1/2 on a windy mountain road and the rest on flat. Just hit 190K yesterday. I go up and down the mountain in 4th, and cruise in 5th, with a little but of stop and go traffic on the freeway. It used to average 21.5mpg on the same commute when new. BTW most people would call my driving "enthusiastic." I found that the mileage drops a lot in stop and go traffic in town. On long trips freeway only I've managed 26mpg, keeping the speed under 70mph. On long trips with sightseeing and some dirt road driving, I get about 18mpg or so.

I think you have a pretty good idea already but I'll add mine.

2011 tacoma 4x4 "offroad" access cab, all stock. Has a good ~250 pounds in the back at all time. Highway driving from WA to San Diego i averaged around 22-23 while keeping it pretty much around 70. Normal city with a bit of highway i get around 17-18. Now if you do have a lead foot i will say going 90 will drop your mpg to around 10-11.
