Tidewater Va.
Thought I'd evaluate my new FTE brake that I purchased from a hide member. My past experience with muzzle brakes has been mixed with my main complaint being a POI shift of several mils. The crono worked great this time out and I can really see an improvement in Vel SD on my loads from using a chargemaster. 2650 168 smk 42.8 IMR 4895 Bartlien 22" MTU 11.25.
I shot Winchester, RP, LC, and FC in order to test some new dies and tooling.

This home made bench is a little shaky at 200 and I was shooting into the sun the entire afternoon. I'll fix that next time.

The first shot was the upper left so the POI shift was only a 1/4 mil. Made some scope adj's and tryed a group.
About 1.5" The FTE brake is very effective against recoil and I can start to se my follow thru.
All and all a good day.

Think I'll make a 0.2 mil target then it will work a 200 a little better.

This week results. 250Yrds. Tryed using the back of the truck prone at 250yds. i think it was the lack of sun into the scope but everything seemed easier to see and clearer. Got a Varget load of 43.3 and 178amax/175smk running at 2610. It was getting dark and I wanted my Vortex PST in low light. All in all I'm impressed with the accuracy. I need an atlas bipod for sure.

I've got the same barrel. You can get a lot better accuracy and a hell of a lot more speed with 175 smks and 178 hornadys with power pro 2000 mr. Gave me a 90 fps boost when I made that very hard decision to switch from varget. Haven't looked back. If you do want to try it go 47 grains to start. My particular load is a 175 smk with 48.0 2000 mr fgm210m lapua brass at 2.236 to the ogive. 2770 out of the same barrel you got. It sucks with lighter bullets bullets but beats all I've ever seen with the big bullets. Just a thought...... Don't get me wrong, varget is awesome but has a little too fast of a burn rate to push the heavy bullets fast out of a 22". I really don't want to sound like a know it all but always like to share notes with people with a similar rig. If you decide to try it pm me and I'll give you my dope notes

What chronograph are you using? 43gr Varget under 178amax gives me an average of 2423fps through my 20" barrel. Only 2567 through my brothers 26" barrel. All loaded to 2.80" OAL
Great loads in both rifles but curious why your mv is so high.

The chrono is a CE pro. I only shot 5 or 6 Varget loads over it that day. I shot a bunch of 42.8gr 4895 168smk @ 2630 which is what others are getting. 47gr 4895 110varmiter gets me 3100fps so right in the ball park. Do you have a factory chamber or match?

Aimsmall -- Soon as the availibiliy of stuff opens up I'll try your load with PowerPro. I've only got a few 175smk but jsut got 500 168s. Just ready to crack the seal on a box of Lapua brass also.
