Accuracy International Picture Thread

Smoked some pork with the AT this weekend.

168 amax TAP did the trick on two, about where the turkey is in the reticle picture.

was reading that same thread thinking how much I wished axsr was still bonded.
I don't think bonding is as important as how AI can hold small tolerances because of its great design. The action, lug, and spine can be precisely machined so fit is essentially perfect.

This system doesn't need bedding or bonding. I'll see for sure when I buy my AXSR but doubt I'll be selling my AT or AXMC

Was running some dry fire dot drills (prone/barricade/tripod) into the backyard this weekend to tweak the fit of the AXSR a bit more from various positions.

Also took it the range today to shake out the forend bolts some more. I only now realized that there's threads in the chassis itself that the forend screws run through that strip any vibratite or loctite before ever getting to the forend threads, so I dropped a drop of blue loctite in the forend threads themselves and torqued them to 55 inch/lbs again ... dumped about a 100 rounds of 308 through it today and re-checked the torque, seems to be holding ok now.

The more I shoot this thing, the more I just want to use it for everything and sell my other precision rifles (except for maybe the 22LR). Initially I was concerned it wouldn't be a good fit for PRS-style shooting due to it being a long action and quite a bit bigger than my usual setup with the Arca "hump" making it top heavy when shooting positions off of bags, but with a Gray Ops plate on the hump it's a great all-round shooter even off of barricades.

1). Again… @Huskydriver with the 95.3% peak. Only way to achieve one hundo would be an MC-LE with the thumbhole.

2). I’ve found that the bonding woes of an AXSR isn’t important. I was worried as well going SR vs MC but I’ve never had an issue with bolts coming loose. Day one strip, inspection, torque, and witness marks. Witness marks never changed over time (with full disassembles) and never had a bolt work loose. No loc tite. Just torqued.

3). I had a .1 mil POI shift after each time of completely breaking down the rifle (scope/barrel/action/rails/etc all removed and reassembled). Was it me for the first grouping drills of the day? Who knows. Probably. But also .1 is well within an acceptable shift.

4). These findings are probably only usual for we Sandy Elites, as I cannot speak to those who haven’t accepted that they are sinners.

5). Zero issues running a LA in PRS. Don’t even notice the “extra” throw. Although I will say the hump did fuck me on one stage…which is really on me for fucking up stage planning.

The quiet part of that bonded thread is that it's a potential issue for round style actions. Flat bottomed actions like the AIs, Win 74s, some kelbly actions aren't even close to having some of those issues. They are more robust and is easier to mate 2 flat surfaces than a round into whatever the hell they are milling in those stocks.

Add to that the 5 action scews holding an AXSR action in place vs the 2 for a rem700 pattern (with a pretty minimal thread engagement).

I mentioned that in the thread, but nobody discussed it.

I have a Howa and an AI AT.

Perfect timing for someone to pick up this barrel. Came with atx I bought. If it don’t shoot Il take it back .

I cannot believe the lack of availability for AXMC barrel blanks in 308. Not looking for anything exotic. All I want is a 10 twist heavy contour blank
Same boat here. The options I’ve seen are a Proof prefit or custom order something with a 12+ month lead time. Maybe there’s a smith out there with a 1.35” barrel inventory, but they sure as shit aren’t advertising.

Saw some dude run this QD strap setup for walking around his rifle around stages and figured I'd give it a shot. Hot damn, super comfortable and let's you go hands free without having to set down your rifle, but without the hassle of manipulating a sling over/behind/etc. your pack. I'm probably late for the bus on this one but might be handy for other folks as well.

I run the OBi link system the same way, but that’s way cheaper if you’ve already got a spare qd swivel. I like it.

I've called Fritz at Black Canyon and Dave Tooley...nothing is in stock. I gave Dave a deposit as he may be able to get a Bartlein blank quicker than I can.

That looks great. How do you get one?

That OBi system looks fantastic. I'm the king of rummaging through my pile of crap and cobbling together solutions haha ... my bag rider is an old upside down acog mount with a KRG bag rider bolted to it and I run my tripod out of a cheapo molle bottle holder and a strap :ROFLMAO:

Love that morale patch, was telling the neighbors the same thing yesterday when they wanted to talk about the latest neighborhood BS.

On the Gray Ops page they show the 6BR mag in an AXSR, I wonder how that feeds. I'm guessing they are using an adapter like the one PFL338 makes.

And sold out. What, did they make only 15 of them or something? Lol

I think this was first run and limited quantity.

I’ll be honest, I bought one. If they fix my BRA feeding issues I’ll go back for all my new barrels. I got a dasher up next so if it still sucks feeding, worst case I’ll sell it and move to 308 instead 😂

It's a shame that AI leaves it to the aftermarket to address this issue.

People want to shoot BR based cartridges out of their AI's, it's one of the most popular choices for PRS shooting, for which the AT-X(C) was designed for.

Would be nice to see AI build BR based mags for their platforms, along with other support like magnum bolt faces.

I get it, mags are hard and the demand may not justify the tooling and RnD.

I’m happy other companies are stepping up to fill the niche. The price looks high, until one considers an HRD kit is $45 on top of a $95 mag …. When you can find one. If this works without the fuckery of the HRD kit, I’ll have a spare to let go that I lost patience trying to get it to stop from nosediving.

re: mag tweaking for the AXSR ... @pfl338 cooked me up an updated version of his AXSR/AXMC AICS mag collars. In this version the mag runs in the most forward position of the magwell, so I'm wondering if it would help folks run some of the shorter cartridges out of the AXSR/AXMC as well.

I'm primarily running 308 and 6.5CM in SA and will probably run a 6creed as well but that's not really shorter than what I'm already running, I just wanted to be able to run my pile of existing and tuned AICS mags out of the AXSR without drilling a detent hole for the AXMC magwell adapter.

Either way the first test version is in the mail to me so I'll let y'all know how that runs with regular SA AICS mags for me.
