I'm not inclined to waste my time making lengthy remarks until the OP becomes an active participant in the discussion.

But I will pause for a moment of "WTF?!?" to wonder why an engineer is using a kitchen knife in the shop. Go hit Menards during one of their tool sales, when they sell those "snap knives" by the fistful for $10 or thereabouts, and scatter enough of them around the shop to where you're never more than a step or two away from at least one. Then, buy a couple nice multitools and folding pocket knives, and carry them in your pocket at all times. This is pretty basic stuff that should have been taught in Manhood 101, but then again I was lucky enough to go to high school prior to the metal detector era.

I have the most awesome girlfriend, of 6 years now, neither of us want that marriage dogma but we enjoy our lives as they are.

You reply in the affirmative.

Let us know how long it takes at the ER before you're moved to recovery.....

If she blows up that easy over HER kitchen stuff (women are VERY territorial about their kitchens)then you should either make sure you respect HER STUFF or find another woman who will put up with your decision to trespass.

You made a choice and/but she's(going overboard in)"punishing" you.

Buy her another knife.

Don't do it (take stuff out of the kitchen) again.
Get your tupperware and tools at the thrift store or pawn shop like the other guys said.

BE ALERT for other territorial behavior. However, if she's bi-polar (AND not taking her meds), you're screwed. You'll never be right.

Generally, Fiancee's put up with your behavior. Wives don't. You'll learn.

Many people refer to the other person living in their house, sleeping in their bed, doing their laundry, cleaning their toilets, and cleaning their house, oh, and having sex with their "Fiance' . Doesn't mean they will ever marry them, just easier to say than live in housekeeper/maid/cook/laundress/and occasional sexual partner.
Like many of the others, I suggest not allowing such high-strung behavior, and for crap sake get your own tools. If you are still using kitchen knives for shop tools you are an idiot. If you are using fine knives for a shop implement you have little to no respect for fine tools, and probably don't really deserve a man-cave of your own.

In my opinion, the word "marriage" derives from the word "merage", meaning we two, merged into one, via our marriage.
