Range Report Another Happy McRee Owner

I got my McRee Friday and had some fresh 175SMKs loaded. Just the feel of the gun now is worth the investment. The stability is awesome. The action actually cycles a ton better and smoother. Shot a bit at 100yd on Saturday and was extremely impressed. Practically all the same hole. Today I was able to take it out on my unlimited range. Put a target at 600 and 1000 yds. 600 was too easy. And due to limits in my setup I was not able to adjust for 1000 so I held for wind and elv and was getting hits 75% of the time on a silhouette with a varying 10mph wind. Farthest I have shot before hand was 500 yds so I am completely overwhelmed with the performance and feel on this stock. I wasn't really going for groups due to the fact I had a M2 going off about 10 feet to my right and that kind of messes with the consentration skills. I will post pictures later this week.

I was shooting a Remington 700 Tactical with a Lupy Vari X 3.

I'm glad you're happy with the chassis. What mags are you using?

I met the owner of McRee's at the NRA convention this past weekend. I can't for the life of me remember his name but he was a helluva nice guy. I was really impressed with how cool the guy was and how he took his time talking to me. It was like I was the only person there in the line.

I imagine the customer service here would be out of this world. I'm definitely going to pick one up. I was skeptical at first but after holding the stock/chassis it's definitely solid.

Using AIC mags. Scott is the best person to deal with as far as customer service I have ever encountered. He is passioniate about his work and it shows in the quality and craftmanship that he sells.

That is crazy looking. I think that is another awesome point as well that I can convert to your set up and you to mine. I havent asked how much he difrent forenends and buttstocks are though. I honestly think the guys I shoot at comp with will flip at this. If I went your way they would probably die.

I finished up the krylon job.

I think for the price, quality, and service this stock beats the AICS hands down. Now to mention the flexibility this gives in setup and pourpose.

kilo, NY... how much do your rigs weigh? IIRC, mine weighs about 16-1/2 lbs or so as pictured (30" Rock SS1000yd barrel weighs a chunk, as does the NF 12-42x BR scope). Thats really been my only quibble with mine... way heavier than it looks.

Not sure how much it weighs yet. Its not too bad. I think it is just at the point that too much more would be too heavy though. There is alot less metal in ours thatn yours.

NY just take it appart, close your eyes and start spraying primer! I know I was going to have a problem with painting it as well so I saved a buck and just got it in the raw so I had no choice. Kinda made the pattern up as I went as well.

Might want to try one of these... moves the grip back a bit, moves your trigger finger out a bit... puts the pad of your finger right on the trigger. At least with an AR

I need to order another one for my McRee... I have the parts to swap it over to an F/TR rig, and I'm thinking I'll need a grip on there for that

To be honest I'm not sure how much my rig weighs. I have no scale. But the actual stock is actual rather light. I would say lighter then an aics and not much heavier than my old b&c A5. However with the heavy contour barrel and nightforce it weighs a ton!
The grip is an ergo tac delux its great I was not a fan of the stock grip at all. Only issue is the ergo has an extra piece that flares at the top I had to cut off and I misjudged and cut too much!
