Looking for a lite weight (under 16oz) 1 inch tube variable scope with at least 12x for my new AR15. Weight or more precisely the absence of it is important as it will be a should gun and cannot lift a heavy gun repeatedly. Also important is a side focus or AO as I will be shooting mostly indoors (25yds) and some out doors. I am very. old losing eye sight and need good glass . I find the AO or side focus makes a huge difference. I have been looking at the Leupold sku 115392. It is about 355 on ebay. I have a new Leupold 3x9x33 efr on my Henry lever gun and live it very much. I would love to have an illuminated reticle but the ones that I have found weigh too much. I would appreciate any recommendations. I am pissed off about getting old-it is not for sissies.

I'm pretty sure that the minimum parallax on 4-12x40 AO Leupolds is 50 yards. It may be worth finding a VX-3 or 3i 6.5-20x EFR if most of your shooting will be done at 25 yards. They focus to very close distances, much like the 3-9x33 EFR on your Henry and they're 18 ounces.

You could also try finding a Weaver Classic V 4-16x or 6-24x. They are discontinued, but they're popular with rimfire shooter's because they parallax to very close ranges and are very light. They have capped turrets, simple duplex reticles, and limited elevation travel, though.
