If so and you happen to run across some red luggage that might belong to my wife, please get it moving. Apparently during the seven hour unplanned layover my wife had in Memphis after they canceled her flight to Phoenix, Delta didn't have enough time to figure out where her luggage should go. It's only going to cost us around $5000 if it doesn't show up today which I'm sure Delta will be willing to compensate us for.

Re: Anyone work for Delta Airlines?

Good ole Delta managed to break my rifle case apart last year. My two rifles ended up repeatedly smashing together for 3500 miles and through 3 airports. Ever see what a sling stud can do when it smashes into a S&B PMII? Enough to make you vomit! When I showed the lady at the luggage desk my scope, she asked "what do you call that part of the gun"? I did get paid, but their limit is $3500 unless you purchase additional insurance. You may actually get paid if the luggage doesn't show up. Be firm, articulate, and polite, and don't take no for an answer.

Sometimes that doesn't work since carry on luggage is so restricted. Also pretty shitty considering we paid an extra $185 at check in for the luggage. Checked three pieces and none of them were close to 50lbs.

Her luggage finally showed up this evening. She only had to wear the same clothes for two days. I'm sure someone (other than my wife) lost some sleep worrying about it.

Between getting fingered and felt up getting through security, paying $185 additional for luggage, getting stranded in Memphis for 8 hours and not getting her luggage until almost 24 hours after she arrived at her destination I'm sure she'll really be looking forward to the flight home.

I think I'll buy some stock in the rental car companies.

I worked for Delta for 14yrs (avionics tech) and saw/heard stories like this all of the time. The Give-A-Shit level just isn't there.

You should see the reaction to pets being frozen to death because some knot-head didn't close the bag bin breakers (heated panels)....

I hope you get your stuff back (in good condition).

I have started shipping items by UPS or FEDEX that are critical, delicate, or expensive - prefer FedEx. Call the hotel, speak with the concierge, and tell them to expect and hold the package for you. Pre-arrange return shipment with the shipping company.

Not all airline shipping is this bad, but damn, I've seen an occasional incident that just makes me want to go over and beat the living batshit out of the luggage handler(s) who obviously don't give a damn or are incapable of caring about anything except when their next union-mandated break is.

Oh, if you really want to fuck with TSA, put a rolled up sock in your skivvies. Be sure to 'jump' when they hit it.

I'll preface this by saying that I love my wife dearly.

That is what organized, forward thinking individuals like yourself (and me) would do. Unfortunately it isn't my wife's strong suit. Organization, planning and time management completely elude her. It is the only frustration I have in my marriage. She could have shipped the things she needed for her class out to AZ for probably $20. Instead, she waits and jams everything into her suitcases and pays $185 only to lose a night's sleep worrying about whether or not her bags will make the trip to her destination.

I love her but damn.....

I know, it was kinda in jest, But true. I get to cheat on the liquids thing but not much else. As far as delta (lower case d), they have never been much on the CS. When my airline picked up 10 planes worth of flying for them out of LAX back in 07-08, the gait and ramp agents didn't like us much because we would rush them to, wait for it, Leave on time. GASP. our on time performance also was beating the crap out of mainline and making them look bad. The feeling I got was they really didn't give a Funk. I'm sure there are many that did but he company culture, at least out of LAX was bad. As was already stated. the give-a-shit meter didn't come of the bottom.

Glad your wife got here bags.

Re: Anyone work for Delta Airlines?

Had a flight to Paris. Direct from DTW. Both my wife and I checked a bag. My bag showed up. Wifey's no make it. How can two bags, both checked in at the same time to the same destination with no connections not get there together?

Ask Delta.

Three days later it finally shows up.

Glad she finally got the bags. I travel a lot for work and I never check anything if I can help it that might have what I need in it.
