My buddy Jim Stejskal just got another article done for the American Rifleman. This is number 4 or 5 I think! His articles are outstanding.

Great read from a guy who walked the battlefields to find proof that the guns were there.

Cheers,

Sirhr

P.S. Our archaeology trip Monte Cassino is going to have a pretty interesting gun connection... and we've been commissioned to do a joint article. But can't give away the topic until we confirm it. But something happened there that is very interesting in firearms history! I think that the 'ground evidence' will show our hypothesis is correct!

Great article, sirhr! I plan on getting that book. Interesting to see how politics weighed out with Botha, eh?

Good article. For practical use, i.e. hunting, the best thing about the Vergueiro rifle is the foresight. I have an acquaintance who installed a salvaged (some guys use Vergueiro actions to build stutzen rifles) foresight on a Mauser 98 actioned rifle, for bush stalking.
