Calypso AB Mini Ultrasonic Wind Meter

How long was it before you guys got your mini ab. I have had ups notice for a week and nothing updated on it.
Just noticed now the average crosswind doesn’t update with the correct value. Such a frustrating piece of shit.
I sold mine. This is beta software and hardware, at best.
Shits wild. Release a 300-400 dollar piece of equipment and send it out as a beta test.
Has anyone else had a horrible experience with calypso ? I bought a unit with AB and the first day I had it it shit the bed they said there a glitch that once it’s loses it first charge it won’t ever charge again, making it completely useless. Five months later, they still haven’t sent me a new one so Ive pretty much lost my patience with them. I guess they’re sick of hearing me ask about when are they going to replace my unit so they just sent me my money back. This doesn’t seem like a very professional company. And I’ve been reading on other forms that this whole time they have been filling orders for new customers but haven’t sent replacements for broke ones . I know you have to take what you read online with a grain of salt . Hopfully someone else with make a better ultrasonic wind meter that Actually works
I have two Mini's and a WeatherDot. The coupler was missing from the WeatherDot, their support first lied claiming it wasn't included then I pointed out it was both pictured on the product page and in the included parts list in the manual. The story then changed to "so sorry, we'll send one right away". It is now over a year later with periodic inquiries from me and no part ever sent.
The WeatherDot was not a finished product IMO either from a hardware or software standpoint. The Calypso software is still crap even for the Ultrasonic products as they don't maintain stable and beta branches as is the current agile/devops bullshit fashion that uses paying customers as unwilling guinea pigs.
From the verbiage on their site it seems opening a U.S. branch was a contentious/controversial move as seen by their employees in Spain.
Why do I use the Mini? Because much like the Labradar when it came out, it was that much of a leap forward, warts and all.
The only other portable ultrasonic I'm aware of is from Switzerland; "Skywatch" but I don't think they are for sale anymore.
Wind Zero made in the US bu a F Class Shooter. Been using it for a year now. Works very well, but does not integrate with solvers.

Sure I will take you word for it. looks quite different. I do know mine works very well though.
Is the ULP model and they tie it into a LoRA radio and combined power source.

Yes. I asked them about this months ago before buying the AB Mini. Response was that it wasn't a real product and shouldn't be on the website. Obviously they couldn't be bothered to fix the website. Just like they can't be bothered to actually fix their shitty apps.
That's helpful, I feel like if they were thinking about market demand they would have created a reliable all in one product that could link to a Kestrel 5700 or AB Quantum to provide environmentals.
Exactly! Just a bit more work and it could've been great device. Instead, it's dogshit.

I agree if they would just push a little bit farther on the creativity. They could do an all in one. Wind and environmental’s this unit would be stellar. It definitely needs some app up dates. Used it this weekend in a match. I honestly loved it. No guessing on did I point the kestrel in the absolute direction or was I off a few degree's. Did the wind pickup from my last reading and for how long. Did I miss it cause I was picking up brass or spotting. I had none of those worrying issues. Simply because it was streaming the entire time. Took a lot of stressing out of the game for me. I’m definitely hoping they will get the Bluetooth connection issues fixed and pairing with other devices.

1) AB Quantum support will be out in a few weeks, and this will VASTLY improve the experience you are having. You will no longer need Anemotracker anymore for any reason.
2) Alongside this, a firmware update will be delivered through AB Quantum, which will greatly improve the experience with the devices.
3) Expanded device support is on the way! The Calypso AB Mini will be compatible with even more devices, making it more versatile after this update.

Can we stop putting out beta products in the AB ecosystem, only for them to maybe get fixed later? Shooting products are NOT cheap and while I have zero problems wasting money most of the time, it's entirely frustrating to hear shooters who don't have that much expendable income to have crappy products that don't work when they receive them.
I'm no Apple fan but maybe companies should take note of how a proper ecosystem works.

So darn happy for this. I can’t wait. Thank you so much for getting this out there. Also in sharing the info on all these upcoming updates.
Hopefully. We just took over fixing these from the manufacturer so we are still deep diving into them. Then we have to push to our beta testers to review it for any major issues. Then we will push it out. We already have 4 firmware updates in house in less than 3 days to stabilize them.
But that is our goal.
An awesome update if you haven’t done it already. For the “AB mini” would be if you can fix the clocking of the needle for a head wind. With a head wind instead of it going from let’s say from 60 degrees then 0 degrees to 350 degrees. It shows it clocking all the way around. 60,90,180,270 and then finally to 350. Really throws of the average wind direction. Hopefully I’m explaining this correctly.
