I shoot for #TeamNoSponsors. We have very little marketing potential, plus I'm not that good anyway lol.

Wait, they got 12 of the top 15 in the PRS and 4 of the top 15 in NRL (including the top 2 from both) and your pissed about lack of representation of the top shooters? GMaFB. I'd say they did pretty well in getting the best to attend, and the split between PRS and NRL is more or less representative of the difference in membership numbers.

Now, will it do anything for the sport? Time will tell, but I haven't seen anything on my Facebook feed (not that I check that often) nor have I seen any advertisement on ANY other media. If it weren't for this thread I wouldn't know the AG cup was a thing.

From this casual observer, sitting on the side lines, I'd say that Frank is pretty on target with "nothing burger," at least with regard to the stated goals of increasing visibility and growing the sport.

I'll say it again:

There were multiple people invited that declined for various reasons. A few even bowed out after they accepted the invite for various reasons.

The process of getting into the Cup next year is being revised and expanded. As far as I know, it will be announced at the PRS Finale, but the people at the Cup got a sneak preview of the plans.

Allegheny had HUGE drama in the day because of the self scoring. It broke friendships in 2007.

The first match I shot was 2 years ago or so and I think we had 35 shooters? Now that same monthly club match can easily pull 100+ shooters, most of whom couldn't pick out any of the top 10 shooter in PRS/NRL from a lineup. The local MD's are the folks growing the sport IMO.

If anyone actually cheats at Allegheny, they should probably find one of the local cliffs and get an up close view of the bottom in the most direct way possible.
That had got to be one of the best and laid back events I’ve ever participated in.

It was a giant scandal back when it happened, and once the floodgates were opened, everyone started pointing fingers

this match was very spendy before I even got there.
$1,000 entry fee
$860 flight/baggage fees from west coast to East coast
$300 car rental
$300 cabin rental at rqnge
$275 for two nights in hotel. (Night showed up, and night before the flight)
$60 gas for rental car. 6 plus hours of driving round trip to range
$140-two dinners, breakfast, and one lunch before/after event (They fed us at range very well!)
$200-280 match ammo
This doesn’t account for 500 rounds of practice ammo and three range trips,gas,time, equipment needed, etc

that’s $3135!!!! Holy insane. Crazy to think about.
And every time I travel away from my region it’s about this much. Plus or minus depending on if we are donating to the match/prize table(which we usually do!)

Staying in my region is soooo much more affordable. cuts out around half the cost on average.
I’ve yet to get one reimbursement for match fees, yet to get one flight paid for, and yet to get a rental car bought for me. I pay for it from my bank account.
that’s why the league checks, match performance prize table picks, etc is a big blessing to me and my family. Certainly helps offset a portion of spendings if I shoot well enough to earn it


the entire sponsorship game is vastly different from what the non sponsored shooters will say it is. They don’t know, and thus just make up something to talk about.

Anyway, I’m really excited to see the episode. These guys put a lot of work into it. I think it will certainly help the sport grow. We’ve already had a ton of people say they are interested in the AG cup idea because it gives them a goal to reach at the top. Something they can aspire to earn down the road. Bottom line is those guys will put in the time and money, shooting more, buying more product. And will get their buddies into it as well. Getting more new shooters into it. Thus building the sport even more. of course that’s not the only way to grow the sport, but certainly is A way.

Those club matches are awesome. I miss living so close to Navasota and shooting with all those good people.

Fun to see. I wish it showed more stages and more shooters, but that's a lot to fit into an hour for a general TV audience. The vibe of the extra stages at the end where everyone watched each other shoot was fun too, hopefully the match format next year allows for more of that.

Yeah I kinda think it may have been better as a 2 part series. Day 1 and day 2. They did a good job of keeping it fast paced and not boring of just watching full stage after full stage. But I would’ve liked to see more shooters. I know some weren’t even shown shooting.

But overall it was a good job In my opinion. I did the .99 cent stream last night after it had aired.

I was really hoping to see a lot more of interviews of shooters on how they approached a stage and why they shot it the way they did? Maybe split screen it with the actual footage of their run.

Knowing the winner ahead of time took a lot of the drama/suspense out of it.

Neat vid... but real question.

The first AG CUP/PRS match is coming up and there are 20ish shooters who have paid $250 to register for the series and $250 extra for the match. According to the rules that means 5 people will get paid out, from $468->2656 5th to 1st.

A quick inspection of those who have signed up and it appears that over half the people signed up for this have never had a top-10 finish in a match, let alone a top-5 finish. Conversely, there are a handful of shooters who have -many- top 5 finishes and wins.

Why are the majority of these people giving their money away? I must be missing something...

Why do people play the lottery or flock to casinos? Gambling is fun.

It’s no different than any other match where 100 people pay $250 entry fee and only 20 have a chance of winning.

I understand for the "cool" kids on the block, it is all the rage to be negative when someone has a go.....
Though everybody is of course entitled to their opinion, mine is they had a good go for a first attempt and will likely improve.

Don't get me wrong. It's a cool concept. The show was just really boring to watch. Like I said, I just wanted to see more interview footage or through the scope footage with background commentary.

They never even explained what PRS matches or even the AG cup is.

Didn’t explain what 6 dashers and other stuff is (the average viewer has no clue wtf a 6 dasher or bra is).

Most of the footage was the splash of impacts on steel and guys running bolts.

Swing and a miss. Maybe this year’s coverage will evolve.

Just rented and watched it. Thought it was cool. Some through the scope stuff and more talk from the shooters on how they were tackling the stages would've been nice. Overall I enjoyed it and thought it was a good first attempt.

About as exciting as watching Golf

I love watching golf. If you play the game, it's pretty incredible to watch what those pro golfers can do.

Shooting on the other hand - worst spectator sport ever. I love shooting, but wouldn't waste a dollar to watch other people shoot.

I'm sure this is going to ruffle some feathers, but golfing is a much more technical and strategic sport then PRS. It's much easier to appreciate how a golfer attacks the golf course then it is to watch a shooter put his rifle with gamer plate on a barricade bag on a prop and slap the trigger and get hits on a ~2 MOA target. Then watch the next shooter do the exact same thing.

I'm not saying this to bash PRS, as I enjoy shooting it. But there's not much comparison between the two.

My wife came to a match a while back. She watched for about 2 stages, then spent the rest of the day in the pickup. And, she enjoys shooting, and was there live...
