Not sure if this is the place for it but I ran into a bit of a bind. Half way through a match my batteries on my Garmin 701 died. Replaced it and rebooted but kept getting this error “cannot unlock applied ballistics”

Dope shows up as zero and entering anything doesn’t do anything. Did the hold power button down for 10 seconds to reset nothing.

Google only found one other person with this problem and for them it was DOA. I have another match this Sunday and next weekend. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or know of a fix.

Otherwise I’ll be calling Garmin on Monday. Thanks

One thing that might work is to try and reload the firmware from Garmin's website. If you don't have the current firmware it shouldn't be a problem, if you already have the current firmware then it may not try to "rewrite" over it........Good Luck!

i actually tried that, went from 3.4 to 3.5 “successfully” and nothing changed :(

Man that sucks I feel your frustration.......Just taking a wild guess here, but it sounds like whatever "key" that validates/unlocks the AB software is no longer being recognized as valid.

I once had a garmin 62st hand held GPS that came with the built in topo map, I upgraded to their latest firmware (on their recommendation) and something happened in the middle of the download that caused it to have to start over well when I finally got the firmware updated I no longer had the built in topo map that I paid extra for. I called them up and told them what happened and they told me I would have to buy the topo map because it was my fault that the firmware upgrade messed up.............well I told them they could stick that GPS where the sun didn't shine.

That's my guess, when power was lost due to the batteries dying. Something corrupted itself, and it doesn't seem like something I can do at home easily to fix.

I hope either Garmin or AB will take care of it. I would think it would be designed/built so that batteries dying wouldn't cause this....

It won’t be AB.
