as some of you may know I have been fighting an almost constant battle with the local police in ireland over the issue of firearms ownership for about the last 7 years.

Today i got a letter from the head Honcho of the cops today telling me he wants to meet me to discuss revoking my firearms permits. Naturally i called my lawyer. I have a case pending against them already..lawyer says its bullshit... let them try and we see them in court....

What the hell is wrong with this fucking country... Im a law abiding irishman.. No convictions or associations and yet they give me this shit over my firearms...

Do I say fuck it and leave for good or do I fight the bastards !

FUCKERS just piss me off !.... Im not good when Im pissed off... Its constant with them... had them in court 3 times already and won.. They ,not to exagerate, HATE ME !....

I just want a nice quite place to shoot my guns and have some fun... and in some bloody peace....

I want part of the initial group that took the state to court and had the firearms ban overturned .. I was the 14th person to have my legally licensed centerfire pistol returned to me... All the calls im getting tonight are saying to fuck them up... but they keep on thinking of new ways to piss me off... Guys to be honest.. Im sick of it... I just want to have some peace and enjoy my right...

Quite seriously I got about 100K euro and the best part of 20 years invested in this.

Got a scope in my safe worth 6K that I havent had time to fix mounts on yet...got more gear than I can count...the letter said " serious issues had come to light and I must make an appointment within 10days to discuss the issue... My lawyer says if someone made a complaint I would have simply had a knock at the door and they would have if necessary forcibly taken my gear... The fact that they havent done it already says that the cops are anxious to not fuck up...he says its a good possibility they are just trying to wind me up but I got too much experience with them to think otherwise... Dont trust them. Dont like them.. Have no faith in them !

No one can answer that for you. Im sure youll make the right choice. Home and family have a strong tie. But so does freedom. Heres something I read the other day....An argument used by an attorney...

Dont know why I posted that. It just struck me as powerful. One could insert many words in place of "presumed innocence"...like freedom, or truth. But the intent remains.

eddieo, I bleed for you bro. Only problem I see is Ireland doesn't have the 2nd amendment in their Constitution. It is a hard fight, they are using your money to fight you, and likely unless you are inherently wealthy your money will run out before they do.

I'm not at all saying don't fight, but alone it's a pretty tough battle against the hypocrisy!!

Can you stash your gear, in case they come to get it? Also what about filing some sort of harassment case against them as it has been found in court that you're good to go? Protect your gear, even if you have to come to the US on some sort of hunting trip to leave it with friends. You know if the Gov't gets the gear it could be damaged and possibly not returned. Good luck brother. If you decide to leave I'm sure you'd find a good place to lay your head here in the states.

Lots of people have died over the course of humanity by staying put and fighting for a cause too.

I thought Ireland was a 'loser pays' system (eddio's $100K doesn't fit that bill though) so if you think you have a legit case push the issue but if you think you're going to lose, in which case you'll be paying a lot in addition to losing your cause, than I think you're better off moving. If the political atmosphere of the country (people) is anti-gun than it's a lost cause no matter what you do.

South East North Carolina has a lot of Celtic heritage, mostly Scottish, but I am sure we can make room for more Irish. Come here and you can open carry. Texas is a good choice also, just the illegal immigration and drug war problem there to deal with though. We need good legal immigrants to be citizens.

Eddieo, I say that you continue the fight if you can. My reason for saying this is you are not only fighting for yourself but others as well. This is the only way that laws are changed and people's mind are opened to issues such as these. My opinion is you have way too much invested to just pack and go. Now that being said... do your best to move or hide your firearms so that when and if they come knocking to "forcibly" remove your weapons they won't have the access right away and will have to have you turn them over. You also need to do what makes you happy and helps keep the heavy burden of STRESS off of you. As for them pissing you off and possibly causing you to fly off the handle, let your attorney handle them and speak for you. The last thing you want or need is to fly off the handle and allow them to paint a picture to the judge,jury and the media, that you are a danger to everyone by having guns. They could use that as ammunition to take your guns away and also destroy any progress that you have made.
Good luck with this and try your best to keep your sanity thru all of the hell they are inflicting on you and gun owners in your area.

Update:

Had my meeting today, It didnt go well. They made several threats to arrest me over long ago resolved issues.

My lawyer is absolutely furious... Long story short we will be filing a harassment suit in the next week or so.

They gave me serious pressure tonight to make statements without my lawyer present.. I have reported these to my lawyer..and to the Internal Affairs department of the Irish Police. What they have tried to do is illegal, plain and simple... Im not standing for it. This is simple payback for beating them before. nothing else... The report from the Firearms officer described my home security as better than some business premises he had seen.. All in all they wanted to try and fuck me up. The only thing they have done is piss me off..

Rock and roll for the court case... I'm finishing this once and for all and will hope to obtain a permanent injunction stopping them from doing this again. All nice and legal.. Thankfully we have some judges in Ireland that have a good deal of sense. if I back down given my track record with them they will know they have beaten me... I got 2 Supreme Court hearings pending plus the outcome of a lower court decision on seperate issues related to harassment of myself by them... They picked on the wrong guy.

As was stated, this is unfortunately taxpayers money they are using. The unfortunate thing is that indirectly i will end up paying for it.

Shame on them !!!!... They would be better served going after real criminals and not law abiding citizens like me... A fight they want,,, a fight they will definitely get...

No the point is he stood up to authority and for what was morally right.
I'm not saying start a war, he's fighting this and it's what he should do so long as he can afford it...

This could be an entire movement if pla yed right, get the media on your side, get people standing up and arguing for the cause to change the gun laws...

Ok then. I here people say that could never happen in the U.S. (but could it? )
What can I / WE do so it never does.
I'm only aware of being an NRA member. Which I am. But is there anything else we should all be doing to ensure that we never face this same type situation.
If anyone has info on this please post. I'm sure that a lot of members like myself could use an update on way's to protect our 2nd Amendment.

update:

Held a council of war over the weekend with my lawyer.

It boils down to 2 things;

1) I had an issue nearly 14 months ago which was resolved in Court which they are attempting to throw back at me. This guy I am suing for a variety of things made bullshit allegations which didnt stand up in court and his case was thrown out. Another guy i am suing also made bullshit allegations which didnt stand up.

They are attempting to prosecute me over these allegations again but it has to go to the Director of Public prosecutions here first. lawyer says chances are very very slim given I am suing them..

2) When the DPP say its bullshit I get my injunction stopping the cops from any more harassment..

I have said this before and I will say it again. You guys in the states should cherish your rights. Enjoy them and protect them with all your might... Look at the BS people like me have to put up with.
