Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

I've been following this thread since day one, and in May I ordered a short action w/.308 bolt head, and in June a long action w/.308 bolt head (16" 308 and long boi 30-06 are the plans, respectively)...the short action was delivered this week! I ordered barrels from PVA (30-06 back during the July 4 sale, and a 308 just last week as well)...as I gather all the bits and bobs, one thing I don't recall seeing or maybe missed in the thread -
Are there any folding stock chassis that fit the CDG, where the stock folds to the right/over the bolt handle? I found this with some digging and was actively considering the Magpul until I found it; price was right, I liked the stock/chassis, Magpul is generally good...but if it doesn't fit over the bolt handle, then that's that, dead in the water. Is there anything else out there that'll work the way I hope it will? Hopefully for a grand or less?
I wound up YOLOing a Magpul 700 Pro anyway, figuring worst case I live with taking the bolt out of the gun and risk losing it. The whole reason behind wanting a right-folding stock was to keep everything together...less things to possibly fall out or get lost. But, I can tie a bag to the whole thing, so whatever...should be easy enough to keep together. If the bolt arm were bent down a bit more, I think the stock would close just fine.
Anyway - the Magpul chassis will NOT fit without cutting - both plastic and metal. The front of the trigger hanger interferes with the rear of the magwell, which is an easy fix; you can cut a notch in it, it's plastic and easy to do with ye old Dremel. Still need to check mag fitment though, which I can't do just yet, because...
The rear of the trigger hanger interferes with the aluminum chassis right ahead of the rear action screw...the notch that needs to be cut is fairly shallow, but it's a lot easier to do with a mill (and a machinist). I have neither, and evidentially don't have any decent metal cutting bits for my Dremel, so I need to get some bits and see if I can cut a notch without ruining things. There's plenty of meat there so I don't think anything other than cosmetic issues will arise. Famous last words...
So it turns out the anodizing on the Area 419 mag extensions pretty much matches the bolt handle on the CDG. Also you can fit seven 6.5 PRC’s in an accurate 3 round mag and still be a bit shorter than the MDT 7 round mags.
Is the 4 month wait time accurate? Reading the thread it looks like 8 months may be more accurate. I want to buy 2 actions, but am a bit late to the game.

Beside CDG, what else is needed? I listed the components below but looking for your feedback and comments on whether it makes sense. Also I see people say some minor fitting (material removal) is required because of the trigger hanger and AW magazine, but is that true no matter which stock or inlet I go with? If feasible I prefer the ones that are drop in without any modification or fitting.
Stock (do I need inlet separately or it usually comes with stock?) Manner or Mcmillan
Prefit barrel (does the contour matter as to stock fitting or no?) Preferred barrel .750 taperless or sporter #2
bottom metal (do I need to get it separately? does it need to be compatible with stock or action?)

1) you specify the inlet to manners or McMillan, same goes for the barrel channel.
2) yes, you pick the bottom metal, bought seperately. Specify which to manners or McMillan.
3) my advice, would be to use a chassis versus a manners or McMillan for your first build. The rifle will easily bolt together with minimal fuss. You can always upgrade the stock later. Scroll up a few posts to CMP70306. That is a chassis, it’s also very light and Foulds. They are the bees knees.
Lastly, there is nothing lightweight about the CDG action, it might not be your best choice if light weight is the primary goal.

I have unfortunately been away for a bit. What is the general consensus on the 6 GT and the requirement for a coned breech?
Though not a 6 GT, I mocked up a CDG action with 6 Creed shot-out barrel on a Xylo chassis and cycled dummy rounds with good success.
Any suggestions for prefit barrels? Some of the local "Gunsmiths" I have asked don't exactly give me a warm fuzzy feeling when I mention coned breech.

PVA & Fisher T&C are 2 I can personally vouch for with a CDG coned breach.
I also tested it with a non-coned Creedmoor, it went just fine, and I would like to run a non-coned GT.
This is so funny. If the coned breech makes them uneasy, just run away. Thats like your car mechanic being uneasy with a tire rotation.
Coned breach is not any harder than anything else, what I can tell you is they feed like butter. They all headspace the same. Win Mod 70 ran coned breaches forever.
Yea, a bud had his smith barrel up an action. Hunting rifle so I told him to go with a barrel nut. He didn't know how to do it???? So right now it's sitting in pieces on my desk about to go back together. Never shot and I can't imagine why as there was a point in the barrel channel hitting the corner of the chamber. Looked like he used a dremel to open it up. Yes, run far and fast.

No pics it now looks like its supposed to. He had a point sticking up that on corner toward the front of the chamber was sitting on. 2nd time he had this guy do something for him and both times had to correct issues so it would shoot. I think he got the message loud and clear now. Yes, he's a bud BUT.
The chamber is inside the barrel.
The barrel itself is between the chamber and the stock.
The chamber should in no way be able to have any interaction with the stock with the stock.
If the chamber really is coming into the contact with the stock then your main issue would have to be that you dont have an action.
Didn't really think I had to be that specific, yes OUTSIDE of the chamber on the barrel touching the stock, chamber inside thats a revelation.

It was a good snag thanks to @Tremor3Guy. I’m dropping it into an XLR Element 4.0. I need a damn action wrench now. Can’t find one. I’ll use a strap wrench to snug it in the meantime I suppose. It will be a bit before I get my barrel in anyhow.
I was able to pick up my Coup de Grace today. LA, mag bolt face. Turns out it is just another action that has been far overhyped especially in this thread. The bolt lift kinda sucks. It does have a unique look though. Is this the action that destroys all others………no.
Wade did you put a trigger in it and adjust it per the video instructions? Makes ALL the difference or at least it did in my case.
I did. Once you get it close, very little movement of the front screw makes a big difference. I do like the action, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t think it’s better in any way compared to the others I have had or used.
Its the man trying to hold him down that's causing the heavy bolt lift.
It’s the same bolt lift as when no trigger was installed. It’s not overly heavy by any means. I’m just balancing out the exaggerations that describe this action. It’s average. Costs a but less and looks good. Those are pluses. This is just a couch review anyhow. I’ll use it when my barrel gets here.
My question was more related to how "required" it was, but believe me when local GS say "we have never done it before but I'm sure we can" about it I just be nice and steer the conversation another direction
I was just wondering if anyone is not using a coned breech successfully? I am gone for varying periods of time and can' keep up on latest news. I have two CDG actions and am still curious exactly why they are or were designed to require such .
Not sure either, but every bolt will feel heavier when the action is not in a stock, which I am betting is why wade is underwhelmed. I like the action
It's been explained to death somewhere in the 6000 posts.
It's because it's a 3 lug with the CDG having one of the lugs @ 6:00 o'clock. That low 6 o'clock lug is what optimizes it for AW mags, but you lose the feed ramp in the action. The other 3 lug ARC actions have the 3rd lug at 12:00 with a feed ramp @6:00. The bigger the case dia. the lower the chamber is in relation to bullet CL.
It's been reported that it'll feed Creedmoor & 308 without the coned breach, however 308 & under case size has a pretty high probability for the bullet to hit the breach face. They might load fine but why risk nicking meplats on the way in. I want the peace of mind knowing any flyers are caused by the nut pulling the trigger; not mechanically induced.
It's also been put to rest that your not giving up any case head support if the cone is done correctly. Starting with 12 in the mag I can feel it pick up about the first 6-8 after that it feels like I'm racking an empty bolt.

I have a mountain of different ones in the safe and I thought the CDG was awesome when I got mine.
I'd like to hear this too. I'm not saying the CDG is so revolutionary that they can say
But it is a darn smooth action when put together and timed well. Is it better / smoother than my Kelbly or Defiance? I wouldn't say it's smoother. Bolt lift is lighter than some of my actions though, but I haven't tried all the top actions.
So I'd like the hear from Wade what the other actions are and where the CDG ranks.
Maybe that will help me make by decision if I pick up an Impact.
My only gripe in less than 50rds of use is the bolt to body clearance . Clearance is there for a reason , but i still dont like it. However, its nothing that cant be fixed with a couple welds and a surface grinder.
