I had someone reach out to me with a used KRG rail. Guess what I need to install tomorrow?I have Bravo chassis and was fortunate to find a used KRG Arca rail, The fit is spot on, and well made. Definitely solid and as such, the attachment process is more involved. Other makes may be a simpler install, though I would follow the KRG instruction to ensure it's on there right.

That 1/4 arm can be a SOB. Of course, that's why they call it Know Your Limits . You can always choose to stop at the 3/4" or 1/2" swinger and save your points. I've been beat several times by those who did when I charged ahead ( beyond my limits)I had someone reach out to me with a used KRG rail. Guess what I need to install tomorrow?
Brought some 'homemade with magic markers' KYL targets to the range today. That 1/4" dot was dancing all around my shots. Grr
I figure I'll use the timer on the lane and do an ersatz stage next time. Wanted to make sure I could hit the targets period before I made things harder. Till I got down to that 1/4" dot I was doing all right. In a real match, I had the brilliant thought that if you aimed a bit high, the target would still spin...

Shot my brand new 457 MTR yesterday.Don't try, don't get.
In the matches I've been shooting it's been hit or miss to move. Not sure how I'd game that. I'd basically have to shoot 2 deliberate misses at that 1/4" and restart on the 1/2" target going back up the line.
Shot one KYL that was hit to move. Got stuck at about 3/4" and couldn't hit the thing to save my life. Shot it after the match was over and had zero problems. Grr

Isn't it supposed to be 65 in. Lbs on the action screws and 45 in. Lbs on the tang screw? So I've goon from good to quite poor. White target on left was show with my CZ 457 w/ Lilja barrel and Timney trigger in KRG Bravo chassis. SK rifle Match at 50 yrds. Timid wind, 3-4 mph. Orange target is three weeks later with same set up. I suspected a dirty bore and so got to cleaning. Soaked the carbon ring and brushed it with nylon brush. Ran Rimfire Blend through the barrel. Set the action screws to 45 Lbs. Went out was at range at Markham and got the same results as the Orang target(left it in truck) Two Ranger Officers took turns and got same results. Didn't hold for wind, just straight on target. I am at a bit of a loss at what is going on? Cleaned the bolt, though didn't disassemble it. Cleaned all the usual places. Never been dropped or banged around. I am quite frustrated, and honestly don't know what is going on on and how to correct it.
Looking for advice and suggestions, thanks in advance.
regards,
There is SO much varied information on the torque value. I was at 65 initial, even split. Dug a around a bit and read 45 was a sweet and correct spot. That's where they're at now. I think I missed the split values recommendation. It would be an easy fix while at the range. I tried 35 and saw no improvement.Isn't it supposed to be 65 in. Lbs on the action screws and 45 in. I re-read the instructions, it's 45 for the CZ and the tang (the one that holds the butt stock on) is 45 AFTER the two action screws are tightened. There is SO much varied information on the torque value. IMHO, action screw torque won't put your rounds all over the paper like that. Last time I had erratic groups like that, I trouble shot it back the sighting system. Take off everything from the scope rail up and retorque your screws as you reassemble. ( Check the length of your rail mounting screws to assure they aren't bottoming while your at it) If you have another scope, that would be step two.So I've goon from good to quite poor. Good advice from WeeHooker. Action screw torque setting have very little effect on accuracy only vertical shot placement. I would also look at scope and associated parts.IMHO, action screw torque won't put your rounds all over the paper like that. After taking a good look at this......I would go buy some lots of ammo and retest. I've had a lot of CX that was that bad and I checked everything, switched to Eley Match and it was much better. It just could be that barrel and ammo lot don't mix.So I've goon from good to quite poor. White target on left was show with my CZ 457 w/ Lilja barrel and Timney trigger in KRG Bravo chassis. Before I remove the scope, rings and base I will shoot a box of each of these. It's the variety on hand so it will do to get a better idea and hopefully eliminate others. If any of these particular type brings the groups back together, I think it maybe ammo related. I's a slow process as I only have one day a month to take a range trip. After taking a good look at this......I would go buy some lots of ammo and retest. You shouldn’t have a problem at all. If anything, you’ll find that the scope sets higher than your cell rest. The Area 419 rail sets pretty high.CZ 457 - Area 419 Rail 30 MOA - Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 and Vortex Low (0.87”) Rings - AM I GOOD?
Pick up the CZ 457 tomorrow and have the rings and scope on hand. Won’t have the rail for a few days…. Anyone know if I’m going to have clearance issues?
thats what I thought you meant just wanted to be sure. thanks mandamn autocorrect! I wrote cheek rest.
Just keep looking and maybe you’ll get lucky. I’m pretty sure I saw someone selling one in the PX here just in the past month or so.Been looking for an MTR but no luck anywhere..
The ACC is a nice chassis. Good luck finding one used for your CZ.I’m going to put my 457 in a chassis. But is it worth spending the money for a chassis like the ACC or should I look at something else.
Will be shooting NRL22/X
I like the looks of the acc but would love to find a used beat up one. Might make the wife a little happier.
Thanks.
That’s such a loaded question. In reality, reticles are a a personal interface to your rifle like the ergonomics and trigger feel. What works perfect for an individual may be awful for another.I've got a CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer MTR that I picked up in the spring that I haven't purchased a scope for yet. I know that there is a optics forum, but since this gun series has such a following, I thought it better to post in this thread. I'm looking for recommendations or guidance on scope and mount. Right now this is just a range toy, but I could see getting into matches once I have more time in a few years.
Not looking for budget options, but also not looking for a 5k Nightforce offering. After some research, my initial inclination was to look at the Burris XTR III illuminated or Pro series. Even if I decided on one of those, they're each offered in at least three different reticles, which is probably where I need the most help. So I'm asking the hive for recommendations on scope, reticle, and mount. Links to recommended sites to purchase wouldn't hurt either.
Thanks!
I bought the DIP extended release and they were only about 1/8" longer but it makes a big difference in finding it.Hey friends, I just installed my cz457 in a MDT ACC chassis and i have the anarchy outdoors extended mag release. However it is not near long enough. Are there any other options to make the mag release lever easier to get to?
thanks
I ended up with removing all the optics kit, base rings and set aside the scope. Checked each piece and set it all back. Bore sighted as before and headed to range. Wing was pushing 5 mph with a frequents gusts that took some targets off the posts. Before I remove the scope, rings and base I will shoot a box of each of these. regards,
DIP is very short. Anarchy Outdoors has 2 different models. One with the paddle (now aluminum) and one without. the one with the paddle is the longest I've seen for these. non of the others are as long. I though MDT has a magwell insert, maybe ask them if they have an extended mag release for use in their chassis.Hey friends, I just installed my cz457 in a MDT ACC chassis and i have the anarchy outdoors extended mag release. First off, All Wolf, SK, and Eley, along with others have that same head stamp, so that means nothing other than who manufactures it.I'm very happy with my CZ 457 Pro Varmint. First time I actually measured groups(normally just plinking). Ammo is Wolf Match, but also had the same stamp as SK I was also using. I didn't measure the SK groups because it was me just drilling 20rds into a single target fairly quickly.
Only thing added is Harris bipod, Bradley cheek rest, Area 419 50MOA rail/ARC rings/Athlon Midas TAC. 50yd zero.
100yds indoor shooting kind of fast. Any other ammo suggestions?
If your going to run the cheek riser ( or butt pad) out near it's limits, you'll find that the adjustment gets wobbly. You're going to want to stack some hard rubber 0-rings on the rods to stabilize them. As for adding a pad, I've been using the anarchy outdoors brand on my Bergara and CZ's. Quality is good but they are only 1/8" thick. Last I looked, they had a cut your own generic option.just got my 457 in the Boyd's AT-one
dropping ring height tomorrow, but may still need a little more cheek-weld elevation help
has anyone used either :
1) the very nice looking Velcro one from wield? and if so which one, (since they don't make on exactly for this stop?
how'd it fit? picture?
or
2) the adhesive one from hoptic? and again, which one? or just the generic one and trim to fit?
anyone ever try to remove an adhesive one/ are we talking permanent residue???

I have not installed the O ring fix for my own At-One as I'm not a tall guy so didn't need to extend the adjustments but a little. My cheek and butt extensions are as solid as a rock. I mentioned this because slop in the At-One extensions is a common gripe among owners that set them way out. As said, it's only really "needed" if you need allot of extension and have wobble in those pieces. I do know several others that use this method on the AT-ONE on another site though. You'll want both 1/4" ID and 3/8" ID O-rings to fit the rods on the AT One. ( OD and thickness aren't real important but bigger is better.) These are available all over Ebay and /or Amazon pretty cheap. Get a bag of 50 min. You basically just stack them on until you set the proper height.Pic of your o-ring mod?
What size?
All 457 actions are identical regardless of model. All use only two action screws. If there are three screws, it's not a 457. Earlier model CZ rimfires ( i.e 452, 453 and 455) did have a 3rd (wood) screw holding down one end of the trigger guard but it was not an action screw..Hi Guys
I keep seeing reference to 2 action screws and a tang screw?
My 457 only has 2 screws, it's a LRP.
Are there different 457 actions?
The manual only shows 2?
That looks Amazing,@yotesniper66 i mounted my Bscar 25 moa today and took my 419 off. Bill has an "extra height" 25MOA if you email him, and it worked perfectly with my .87" Vortex low rings. that's a midas tac 4-16x44 objective for reference. the extra height rail is only 1/16" higher than the standard height rail, so my cheek riser made that a moot point. The bolt clearance is about 1/8" under the rear ring, so the extra height might be a safe bet regardless. here are some pics with the new cheek riser and new 25moa bscar rail. if anyone wants my 419 30MOA rail, DM me -$70 shipped. used 2 weeks, perfect.View attachment 7040346View attachment 7040347View attachment 7040348
