Since its release in 2011, the second edition (hardcopy) of Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooting has sold over 10,000 copies. It's the modern 'go to' book on the subject of ballistics for long range shooters. Several things make this book special:

1. The material is broken down into 'shooter speak', not engineering/academic writing. The science of ballistics is communicated in a way that average shooters can learn and apply the information to their own long range shooting.

2. Experimentally (live fire) tested performance data (G1 and G7 BC's) is presented along with 2-D drawings for hundreds of long range bullets. Here's an example

3. This book comes with the Point Mass Ballistics Solver 2.0. The software comes on a CD with the hardcopy. With the eBook, there are two ways to access the ballistics program. One is to access the free AB online ballistics solver thru embedded links in the eBook and run directly from your eReader. The other is to request the PM Solver program and it will be emailed to you for running on a PC.

You can preview the content by clicking 'Look Inside' on this page:

The Kindle eBook is sold for $39.99 on Amazon (hardcopy is $54.99).

iPad users can use the Kindle app to load the book for reading on iPad.

Excellent!

Got the book (actually -- both books) just now; the electronic format is perfect (and the hard copies that I already have would make very nice gifts to fellow shooters).
Will now send an email to request the solver software.

Thanks for making it available, and -- first of all -- thanks for writing it!
Your books, besides laying solid base understanding of the domain, have taught me probably the most important skill of long range "artillery" -- to know what is not important, and when. You have a great talent of highlighting the essential, and conveying very complex concepts in a very simple and accessible way!

If I may, a non-ballistic question: was DRM-protecting the book a conscious decision on your part?
(I am asking this because it does not work against "pirates", and mightily annoys many legitimate users, such as yours truly.)

EDIT: just seen the DRM-related discussion in the previous thread. With all due respect [I would not want to question your marketing decisions, but] I would dare to advance a qualified technical opinion: Amazon's DRM (as any other software-based DRM) is a joke.

I have a an older kindle with no color with the matte screen. How does this book compare to the long range precision and accuracy book on the non-color screen device?

I recently just read the other book and it worked fine but would like to continue on with this book.

This eBook should look very similar to Accuracy and Precision on your device. It was created using the same methods so if Accuracy and Precision worked fine this new book should work just as well. We combine the older and newer ebook formats (mobi and KF8) to ensure that users with older kindle devices can enjoy the book without having to upgrade to a newer device.
