Very true, but I'm going to give due diligence first. My "looks suspicious" could very easily be rephrased as "this guy screams fucking poser", and would still be true in my thoughts as well, but just as I do as a manager when I have a fuckup of an employee, I'm going to give him his opportunity to tell his side of the story.
He has told his side - silence and redacting of his own 'memoirs'. Would any honest man do as he's done? Delete the evidence rather than substantiate it? Anyway, yours is a noble position that probably only adds to the shame he might be able to feel.

I'm with you brother. We all know it's bullshit, but I was hoping you or one of the other real 8541s still had some contacts. He claimed class "0317 class 2-99" which is its own set of problems I already commented on, but I was figuring that a check of the division schools etc could narrow it down pretty quickly with the name Eddie G and so forth.
The fact that he claims "OPFOR" with 1/7 and 3/8 (another set of questions being on opposite coasts) is why I asked in one of the threads about how OPFOR was done in the Corps these days. The Army has actual OPFOR units who's full-time gig is as a training cadre and doing deployment workups, but in the Marines the "OPFOR" was whoever the hell got tasked with putting on civvies and giving the unit a hard time while they were doing a workup or SOC qual or whatever. I didn't know if we'd gone to actual "OPFOR" units?
The fact that he never references a STA, Force, or MARSOC unit screams pretty loudly also. At the very least I'd have expected him to have done some time in a STA PLT during his hooya history.
I think we know he'll never contact you and will continue to try to cover his tracks now that he's sky-lined himself with some guys that have DONE the shit that he's been CLAIMING. So if you're able to reference some class rosters for 2-99 that may tell the story pretty quickly.
Eddie is .mil out of Camp Legeune. Not even close to a sniper. Much less a sniper with kills around the world. He bought a Tactical Rifles rifle and started building the sniper persona online and shooting his rifle at Sureshot Sports gun range to bolster his claims internally. He better hope someone else doesn't find his info like I did and make it public. I am not .mil but I assume there would be repercussions.
I'm seeing if I can pull up a contact with Quantico, but all of my close friends who were instructors there have moved on. However, they have records of all school houses' graduation rosters and should be able to confirm/deny any "Eddie G" or resemblance thereof from any of the four schools that are 8541/0317 MOS granting. Like I said, I'll try to give it due diligence, but I think it will be similar to going through the motions of vetting this guy:

I'll tell you what it looks like to me. He's a guy who was either a PIG or a strap hanger, maybe someone who went through the DDM course with delusions of grandeur or is a wannabe extraordinaire, has since PCS'd to MCAS Cherry Point on whatever MOS he is now, and is trying to fool the air wingers and internet kids that he's a bad ass. No Scout Sniper deploys with a personal weapon (much less the '40), claims outlandish round counts, states how the lower the BC, the lower the drag, or calls a round shot at "500 yds" that is less than 1/2" away from the rest of a shot group a flyer. I would be pissing my pants in joy if I shot that group at 500yds, but of course I would also be trying to figure out how my projectiles shed their jackets making the shot holes so small on their way to the target at the same time.
As for the video itself, his bolt and trigger manipulation shows no signs of real training or experience, his breath control (very easy to see a continued exhale during at least three of the shots in the cold) is horrible, and the repositioning of his head following every shot would get you monkey stomped in any one of the schools. We were threatened with riggers tape to keep our heads to the stocks, and I had the instructor himself holding my head to the stock when I was first learning to break that bad habit. The movement of the non-firing hand shot to shot, causing the muzzle to drop every time makes me wonder what the hell he's doing there, but he is over-all creating zero consistency in his position through the string. I really wish I could see his whole shooting position, because I'm sure you would see a heel off the ground; anyone who went through school knows what that brings.

Thanks Shank, I won't bother tracking down someone at Quantico now unless he actually contacts me, seems there's zero reason to. I know a few there that would absolutely LOVE to pay him a visit. Now I see why he drives all the way to Havelock to pay to shoot, to get away from actual grunts that would see right through his shit. I always went out to the WMAs or power line grades when I was too cheap or poor to pay range fees.

I understand the not wanting to publicly humiliate someone but...this guy went up and above the normal "look at me" stuff. He portrays himself as some expert in the art of sniping and then goes on to infer he is a Marine trained Scout Sniper. If this guy is in the Marine Corps than he deserves to be publicly outed as a fraud. I spent twenty-one years in the Army as a 35 series MOS and I would never claim to be an Army Sniper or an Infantryman. I have two sons in the Army right now and one is a 11B and I would kick his ass if he ever portrayed himself as anything that he is not. That goes against everything we are taught in serving our country.
This guy deserves everything he has coming to him. If through any of his shenanigans he gave up any OPSEC information (I doubt it it seems all too stupid for that) he should be slammed to the wall by the Marine Corps. Who would ever claim, in a public forum, that you killed a "terrorist" with the weapon? No body that I know that I have ever served with would talk like that. Anyone who has served since 2001 and has deployed would never talk about this to anyone unless it was someone who shared time with you or has common experiences. This guy is messed up in the head.

Redman your analysis is to the point, just watching a shooters bolt manipulation most of the time shows where their training is from, A Marines goal running a bolt is to stove pipe the spent case, Eddie is cheese grating the bolt like a school trained chef. I am not following this very closely but did I posted before, vetting this guy would be a waste of peoples time. However if the WTB at Quantico were to be contacted and this climbs the command, Sgt Maj D. may be very interested not only about the Scout Sniper claims but also I read somewhere in his BS about USMC rifle team? I think it was about ammo on EIC x-course? If he is .mil a shit storm of biblical proportion could be heading his way.

I tried everything I could to contact buddies who all went through SSBC after I did to see if they knew of anybody by that name. Figured if he was a year younger than I then I might get lucky but no joy.
I'm going with my original suspicion that he is part of a reserve unit. He claims to be an "0317" class od 99. 8541 didn't change to 0317 until years after that 04-06 timeframe. He also claims to be "OPFOR" which I'm guessing he means "OPSEC" cause there is no OPFOR in the Corps. As you know, OPFOR means opposition force......as in the enemy. Then there is the mighty claim that he got to ruck his 8k personal custom rifle on deployment and take out terrorists at 1200yds.
His silence is golden, he knows he got outed and he's trying to now cover his ass. I'm all for giving someone a chance but IMO, if he was genuine he'd have left his videos up and made a valid response, and i'm tired of posers like this making wild claims that just aren't true. To the un-knowing, they look at that video and think that's what USMC scout snipers are like, and it sets the bar very low.
UPDATE: He has now taken down his other shooting video that a few of us had commented on. he knows he's smoked.

I just had to do the math on how many years it's been since I was at WTB Quantico (for PMI course) and it's fucking depressing how quickly that time has gone by, but if the cadre there now is anywhere near as salty as they used to be, I would NOT want to fucking sky-line myself with ANY of them. NJP would be the LEAST of his worries if one of the crusty SNCOs or "Gunners" got ahold of him.
The only OPFOR reference I saw was talking about using different cammie patterns for it, just like how we would be in the old chocolate chips for aggressing a MEUSOC or MCCRES. Is there something else I missed?
We never called it "OPFOR" though, just called it "aggressing/aggressors". The only time I heard it called OPFOR was when I was working with US Army units. To be fair though, I left the FMF in 2003 for my volun-told tour on recruiting, and I've been contracting ever since.

My thoughts, I started this topic for a number of reasons:
1. TR Issue - I wanted to make sure that TR was going to be taken to task, given that they had posted this video on their YouTube Channel, and I am sure that it was being used as positive PR to show the "amazing capability" of their rifles. Reality is, it is 100% BS, and people who are looking at TR need to know it.
EDIT - I have had 2 students who were caught up in the TR BS prior to coming to me, so there is some personal motivation in this for me.
The video is still on the TR channel, so until it comes down, then that fight still continues IMHO.
2. EddieG Issue - sorry but IMHO, someone who is publicly posting garbage like this needs to be taken to task. Per the comments above, if you are serving in the military, then you should be held to a standard when it comes to honesty & integrity.
How far this fight needs to go is a personal call. Obviously given EddieG's editing of his material shows that he has gotten a message. However given the fact that he has not owned up to any of this publicly could say something. Personally, I am not on a mission to see this guy get an Article 15, but he is obviously is in need of a major attitude and integrity adjustment. Exactly how strong of a lesson he has learned is unknown?
Once again, especially given the SH & TR issue, PLEASE think about any action that may you take related to this topic, and demonstrate an appropriate level of professionalism.

I feel kinda bad for the Poor son-of-gun. I think all he wanted to do was Kiss up to rooney a bit so he could get stroked and feel good about himself. Poor guy had no Idea he was going to get stuck smack in the middle of a shit storm. In a way it is really kind of funny but I hope the poor bastard does not kill himself when all he has to do is confess and move on.
Same here Redman (24MEU(SOC) 89-91), we just had "aggressors" or played the "aggressors", depending on which unit/who was qualifying on which SOC qual mission. I left FMF (for the most part) in '95 when I moved into intel, and then (similarly) into contracting...
There was another video on his Google Plus page where he stated that he did "OPFOR for 1/7 and 3/8". He pulled it within a day of my commenting on the Hide about how the fuck he was "OPFOR" for one unit at Lejeune and another at the Stumps.
If you see where I asked a few times about whether or not the Corps had gone to "OPFOR" units like the Army, it was in reference to his posts on the subject.

I would think that his superiors would want to know about his shooting skills.
A man that can shoot like that needs to be constantly deployed where he can effectively employ those skills and run up his count.
I know what you're saying, but where I feel the "issue" becomes really important, and relevant to the lawsuit, is the manner in which TR supports this fucking clown and knowingly uses what is CLEARLY false information for their own benefit. There is no FUCKING way that anyone (with any knowledge) who even had a passing interest in the truth could look at any of those videos and not call bullshit. Instead, TR "uses" it as a demonstration of their rifles "abilities".
I've got to believe that if this fucking assclown had posted either of his 500yd videos (the quarter or the one-hole group) and claimed to have used a GAP or Spartan just to name a couple of REPUTABLE builders, that George or Marc wouldn't have been the FIRST people to comment and tell that idiot to STFU and take down that ridiculous video, and then probably offer a "disclaimer" that this guy was totally full of shit and that NO ONE is capable of those claims, even if they used one of their rifles.
I kind of have a personal issue with this dipshit's claims, as I was not an 8541 but was an 0369 (which he also claimed to be) and to have "earned" that MOS and everything that went with it was a huge honor for me.

Ya know, you could be right, but I wouldn't have any idea, as I've never even seen the game. I grew up playing with toy guns in front yard, bb/pellet guns in the back yard, and real guns out in the woods. I've never in my life played with a computer gun.
Actually I take that back, I think I tried that "Duck Hunt" game on the original Nintendo at a friend's house once and didn't like it as much as the real thing.
Same here, when I was 6 years old I was in the back yard with my dads Marlin .22 keeping the birds out of the cherry trees.

"Guys, this is EddieG, I realize that I totally fucked up by pretending to be something I wasn't. Dave Rooney and I are buddies and I was trying to make his products look good. I know that nothing I can say will ever really make up for representing myself as something that some of you guys REALLY ARE, but I really am sincerely sorry, and if you'd allow me to remain on the Hide, I'd like to maybe learn how to achieve some of the skill level I was pretending to have."

A number of guys who have discussed their dealings with TR talked about the warm fuzzy they got from Rooney during the initial call when he made his sales pitch. I've obviously never spoken to the man, but he seems to have the gift for bullshit. I can totally see a guy buying a TR rifle and getting the impression that he and Rooney were buds and wanting to be "important" to him.
I can also envision having what is supposed to be a badass rifle and not being able to get it to shoot for shit. The problem has to be "you" right, the damn thing is guaranteed to shoot minute of chocolate chip, so you embellish YOUR ability to try to match the stated performance of the rifle. Can you imagine if the TR was your first/only "precision" rifle, and you can't get a group better than say 1.5moa out of it? I'd be losing my fucking mind with self-loathing that I'd spent a fortune on a gun and wasn't good enough to shoot it to it's "documented" potential.
Some of the comments he made online trash-talking guys about their ghillies and stuff was pure d-baggery, but I guess when you have a whole phony persona online, you start to over-act the part?

So, stream of consciousness over, if he showed up and had a sincere mea culpa then I'd be good. Some of the real 8541s would need to make their own determinations on whether or not his apology was sufficient, but knowing some of them, I'd say he could make things right.

Yes, I know you are 100% right on every point. When I watched the video what I noticed was not only how bad Eddies form was but that he was fairly "smooth and consistent." To me this suggested hours of dry fire practice. Practice doing it nearly everything wrong. Who practices to get it wrong? Well, OK, OJ probably practiced how not to put a glove on but OJ wanted to make the jury believe that the glove did not fit. Tactical-rifles-shooter Eddie that is who else practices to do it wrong. In one sense it is almost serendipitous that Eddie the poser and TR have chosen to associate themselves with each other, as it seems to be a perfect match.
Just remember while Eddie may have a full set of problems, perhaps even mental problems, He is not asking people to send him $8,000 dollars. Eddie is a poor sap who sent tactical-rifles his $8,000 dollars but did not even know enough to realize he had been ripped off when He got his tacticrap.
I wonder if Eddie ever got a chance to get behind a good rifle, and someone gave him a few pointers on how to use it what he would have to say about tactical-rifles once he had a chance to see what his money could have bought. While I wonder this, I would not encourage any members who live nearby to consider such a thing without carefully considering what happened to Chris Kyle and taking some reasonable precautions.
I would hope that it would go without saying, but IMHO no one should be looking for a "face-to-face" with EddieG, unless it is in a very controlled and supervised environment.
I can't speak for the Active Duty Devil Dogs and HOGs, it is up to them to decide how this should be handled, but I am sure if they feel that this warrants action, that they will take action in an appropriate manner. I know in the Army (where I served), we always took care of our own.
For the rest of us, my recommendation would obviously be to handle this in a "hands-off" manner.
Once again, from my standpoint,
I have sent multiple messages to EddieG, basically stating, you made a mistake, we all do, own up to it, and life goes on. I also explained that their are at least a few Devil Dogs & HOGs that are probably looking to hold him accountable, and it was probably better if he came clean on his own, versus them having to hold him accountable.
I am waiting and hoping that he will publicly come clean, and when he does, then that info stating his video was complete BS will be sent to TR, with a request for them to remove it from their YouTube account.
If EddieG never owns up to it, then I will hold off going after TR until Frank has his day in court, as there is no need to muddy the waters any further IMHO. Probably at at that point, there will be no need to go after them!

From my standpoint I have a feeling he's going to slink off into gecko45 infamy. I'd be totally fine with that outcome. I respect the hell out of Shank not only for once again proving himself to be the master of "Google-fu" (and I'll renew my desire to never give him cause to come after me), but also for electing to keep the information to himself.
I don't realistically expect Eddie to come clean publicly. His removal of most of his content is a pretty clear indication that he's just looking to disappear. What would change my perspective is if he pops up AGAIN making ridiculous claims or commenting on someone's video from a position of false authority.
Now that he's been outed and "warned off", if he doesn't get the hint then I could see taking a little more direct action, NOT to include a face-to-face with him.
A face-to-face serves no real purpose, as by its nature it's an individual exchange. A public airing of ALL information would be much more effective and couldn't be erased.
Again, just my take, but the ball is really in his court.

Non Operator here, Non Mil, Non cool anything. My Brother was a Weapons Controller for the "chairforce". that is as close to cool as it gets. What I don't understand is WHY would you claim to be IN the VERY small pool of REAL snipers and not expect to be called out on it? Is that the special kind of stupid I keep hearing about?
