Did anybody else get this from a certain big-time FFL?

http://i53.tinypic.com/301jbrp.jpg

I'd post the pic, but I'd hate to embarrass them.

I wasn't quite aware that gun ownership made me blue collar. Not that there's anything wrong with it, at all. Both of my maternal grandparents were staunchly blue collar. But is firepower the only "gold" that we can afford?

I didn't take that much offense, but it does perpetrate certain stereotypes, doesn't it?

+1 I think you are reading into that way to much.

Re: Evidently, we're delightfully tacky, yet unrefined

I think it's trying to imply that they have lower-priced firearms for sale (and that said firearms make a good investment).

There's nothing to be gained in life by finding things to be offended by.

Re: Evidently, we're delightfully tacky, yet unrefined

Oh, good Lord, smack me with a trout and be done with it. It's funny that they consistently sell lower-end stuff (I ain't talkin' Cooper here) and then do this "blue collar" ad.

In fact as someone who is defined as a blue collar worker, I'm offended by the fact that your offended by being called a blue collar worker.

I would like my retributions in the form of a GAP Rock please.

Re: Evidently, we're delightfully tacky, yet unrefined

What the fuck is this post about? Someone feeling stereotyped as blue collar? You gotta be shitting me. I think Redmanss had it right, lighten up. Looks like your looking for something that ain't there.

Yeah, I do. Given my experience, it's mostly in SA&K-b, something that I'm surprised that you don't know about, given the fact that you'd break your neck if I were to suddenly make a hard turn to the right.

Are you shitting me? Veer G, you bitch as much as a Jewish wife trying to convince her husband to go to Miami. Please do us all a favor and stop posting...blue collar offensive....SERIOUSLY?!

Disclaimer: I do not hate Jews, in fact, I have several Jewish friends that I crack jokes on and vice versa. Stop taking stuff so seriously.

Don't get it twisted. I never said that there was anything wrong with being a blue collar worker. My grandfather worked as a joiner in a carpentry shop and my grandmother sewed shirts at piece-rate for Cluett Peabody (as in Arrow brand) for decades. What I didn't like was the suggestion that firearms were "Blue Collar Gold."

A., I didn't realize that being white made anybody more American than anyone else, and B., I'm whiter than Martin Mull eating a chicken salad sandwich, drinking a glass of milk, standing on a white-sand beach, dressed in a white silk suit and barefoot under the noon-day sun. But what of it?

At least I can can form a sentence in standard English with correct syntax and spell. I spent ten years working in blue collar jobs before I got my degree, and I was born in a middle-of-nowhere, surrounded-by-cornfields 94% white county seat town with a population of less than 10,000, a median household income of $25,000, and a median home price of less than $75,000. Twern't much, but it's where I'm from, and where my ashes are going into the river one day. Nonetheless, as was said upthread, it isn't where you are, it's to where you're headed, so long as you don't forget your roots. Now go troll elsewhere.

Re: Evidently, we're delightfully tacky, yet unrefined

Here's the deal.

Veer, this is the kind of shit that gets everyone wound up. I get it, you're offended at the target audience the gun store is marketing to, and how they do it. Noted. But is it something we really need to see and make a post about?

Second,
Everyone stop making Veer's threads into "why I don't like Veer" threads. The dog piling is going to stop. We pointed out yesterday to stop the dog piling on the new members but we meant ALL members.

Next time one of these starts to unravel and get out of control, I am going to go down the entire thread and ban everyone for a month.

We're going to get this site back on track and stop allowing it to go on this way.
