Dozens of fire hydrants stolen across LA County, deputies say
More than 80 fire hydrants were stolen across LA County, according to deputies.www.foxla.com
----------
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities are investigating the theft of nearly 100 fire hydrants in Los Angeles County this year, sheriff's officials said Monday.
Some 85 hydrants have been stolen in unincorporated areas of the county, and another 14 in Lynwood, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

What a lovely photo.
I’d bet scrappers. Seems like just last year that stolen man hole covers were a hot ticket too…So… people think they can set them up outside their houses and water will appear?
Or are they getting ten cents a pound at scrapper?

Look at your car policy….
Lots say that natural disasters and acts of war are not covered.
Hey, if covered… good for them.
Do they cover it if you abandon it and the city has to remove with bulldozer? Bet lots of folks find that their auto policies are not what they think they are.

It is getting close. Is this still a thing?
I will only be interested if their is Hiroshima level destruction.![]()
It is getting close.
My curb vultures won't take nice 13" brake rotors to scrapper. No other heavy car parts....but then again, it's not a fireplug. So… people think they can set them up outside their houses and water will appear?

what????? You cannot have a fire rated gun safe? What if I don't store guns in a gun safe; but hard drives, basic paperwork, laptop, etc just to keep out of the ordinary thief's hand? In the CRoK (communist republic of kali), do you just have to buy a "thief proof" save instead?Any reports on the performance of fire rated gun safes?
(I know there are restricted in California, but many have them registered or whatever.)

You left out the part where Sammy would have done his fancy trick stuff like on The Rifleman before he shot holes in the creep 6 times. That obviously is what you meant since you said "half-a-second."What's to loot? Their stuff is all smoldering junk. None of them have guns. They all use their Apple Pay and noone has cash. What... Giant Dildo Collection at Paris Hilton's house? Cases of baby oil stacked in garages? Grammy's? Who wants those!
And how do you carry anything off on a gay-assed scooter? Even the Amish aren't that dumb.
Now looting that place in the 1960's would have been awesome! Of course, Sammy Davis Jr. would have shot six holes in you in half a second.... But it would be fun until that point!

Considering that there were some photos of engine blocks being turned into molten lava, not sure how much better the safes would have fairedAny reports on the performance of fire rated gun safes?

Consider that most of those were probably aluminum and not iron.Considering that there were some photos of engine blocks being turned into molten lava, not sure how much better the safes would have faired
Not likely to be coveredLook at your car policy….

I would think they'd be much harder to steal if they were PRESSURIZED.So… people think they can set them up outside their houses and water will appear?

I was just at the local safe company on Tuesday and we were discussing this regarding all of the fires we have seen in the Northern Sacramento Valley and surrounding Mountains. Just a partial list of fires by name: Fountain (1992), French, Dixie, Camp, Carr, Hirz, Delta, Park (2024). Most gun safes FAILED because of the length of exposure and temperatures exceeded the rating of the Safe by many times. Direct hear for several hours at 500* above the tested temperature WILL destroy the contents. From what I can tell gun safes are required out there. That said they have some very strict regulations on what they have to have for locks and child proof, etc. etc. etc. So they may have written the law in such a way that lots of safe companies can’t sell their products there.
But I suspect the OP was referring to guns being regulated and illegal not the safes. Cheers
The libtards were in a panic to evacuate. Probably a lot of jewelry and Patek Philippes left behind in the unburned houses. What's to loot? Their stuff is all smoldering junk. None of them have guns. That would be insane. That kind of asset should be in one place and easy to grab. However, you are likely right. They are dumb, and preparedness is not in a libtards quiver. The libtards were in a panic to evacuate. Probably a lot of jewelry and Patek Philippes left behind in the unburned houses.
I think that one on the right was a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles...when he identified as a man...
Meh. They’re insured. That would be insane. That kind of asset should be in one place and easy to grab. However, you are likely right. They are dumb, and preparedness is not in a libtards quiver.
They abandoned line of Mercedes, tesla, audis a mile long in the middle of the street that had to get bulldozed......That would be insane. That kind of asset should be in one place and easy to grab. However, you are likely right. They are dumb, and preparedness is not in a libtards quiver.
Given that some of the housing is from monied people there is probably more to loot than at the dollar store. 2nd, 3rd, 4th homes no one took any valuables before it all went up in smoke. What's to loot? Their stuff is all smoldering junk. None of them have guns. They all use their Apple Pay and noone has cash. What... Giant Dildo Collection at Paris Hilton's house? So correct me if I’m wrong. But I think I’m going to need a new “Map to the Stars Lots?”

I kick myself in the arse for not getting an AMSEC when I found a new one on closeout. Wasn't quite the size I wanted, but hell, at that price I coudl have bought a cheaper safe for stuff that I'm only interested in grab and go protection. After the Camp Fire in Paradise, California. A safe store owner did videos of the opening of over a dozen safes, only AMSEC safes had contents that survived, the other safes had destroyed contents. It is good information on who to trust. The safes had to be pried open to break the fire seals.
