Florida

I said this after Newtown:

Why don’t schools have hardened entry vestibules? One set of entry doors (to get late students or visitors out of the rain, etc.), a 10-15’ deep vestibule, and then a set of hardened entry doors that someone must be buzzed in by a faculty member or guard. The hardened doors are immediately locked from entry (not exit in case of a fire or other emergency) at the start of school. The person(s) in the vestibule can then be visibly inspected and spoken to (via a speaker) before allowed entry.

This would not be hard to accomplish to existing schools, nor would it be outrageously expensive. You can bet that wealthy people in the cities wouldn’t mind ponying up the cash, or at least a large portion of it, if it avoids situations like this.

Will such a measure solve all active shooter situations? Of course not, but it would surely make it more difficult for them to get inside the structure where they essentially have a shooting gallery.

After the massive tornado in Missouri that turned schools into kindling parents wanted "shelters" incorparated in to the schools that had to be REBUILT ANYWAY. Shool district said it was to expensive. I have no idea why you could not put 2 ft think concrete walls around the lunch room. Sure that would cost more but i think the school district was thinking seperate shelters in addition to a school.

Point is they have no vision. My wife is a teacher and I routinely want to kick the shit out of the school board. Their "procedures" during events like active shooters go totally oppisite of what i believe and what the local sheriff believes. But it is the "procudure" that leave the school district with the least amount of liability.

They've got something like that on the middle school down here. After like 8:30AM it's buzz-in only. Feels a bit prisony.

Parents picking up kids also have to have an authorization form or some such to pick up a kid. Like, even if you're the parent, and everyone knows you're the parent, if you don't have the form, you can't pick up your kid. ..

They have something very similar to where both of my children attend school. You have to be buzzed in. To be honest, I couldn’t care less. If it stops/deters unauthorized entry into a massive structure full of hundreds of soft targets, much less innocent children, what’s the big deal? You might be the nicest, most honest and law abiding person in the world. The “buzzed in” doors aren’t for you. They are for your children and the nutbags who make seek to harm them. I would think that waiting an extra 30 seconds to walk into your kids school during hours is an easy concession to make.

The car line thing is just like that at my kids schools too. “Emergencies” have come up where I had to pick my kids up instead of my wife. I might not have the proper window “hanger” (because it is in my wife’s vehicle), but they have been understanding and allow my son to leave with me. Perhaps the school your kids attend is taking things a bit far with the letter of the law, especially if you are very well known with the faculty. Their hearts may be in the right place, even if their heads aren’t.

And of course we are gonna have the dipshits on the Left blaming guns and the dipshits on the Right blaming violent video games. God forbid we actually show common sense and put the blame where it actually belongs.

Annnnnnddddd... Right on. Blame is not on anyone but the retard who had his %$#ing personal finger on the trigger. Noone is to blame but the mental midget who DID this.

Amen.

The kids know what their taught and until that changes things like this will continue. My wife and I got into a heated argument related to guns as we are polar opposites on the 2A. She wanted my boys to have nothing to do with guns and I told her that she had a choice......I can teach them about the tools and how to responsibly implement them or they will learn on their own with a potential fatality at their buddy’s house so you choose. She didn’t like hearing that but she is a practical person. They are around this kids age and responsible gun owners.
Point is that because these tools are generally vilified that kids aren’t being educated about these tools by their 2A shunning parents and they are learning on their own through music and video/video games. At the end of the day kids know what their taught. I grew up with rifles literally standing in the corner and it was a tool that went in the truck when it wasn’t in the corner.

What is with these fu&*#ards using the term "High Caliber?" Are these rifles that are smoking ganja? What is a high-caliber? Been among firearms my entire adult life... and part of my pre-adult life. Learning the responsible handling. But never have heard what a "High Caliber" is?

Or is it something made up by Democrat a**-pirates.... to describe everything they want to ban. Oh... yeah... common sense.

Well.... there you go.

Er.... isn't this what we call "Grounds for Divorce????"

I already mentioned about how the blame is always placed on the wrong places. Obviously it's the shooter that's to blame, but therein lies the question of what can we do to prevent this from happening. My own personal theory is that the pussification of children by Liberal SJW parents NEEDS TO STOP ASAP! The more parents coddle their kids and try to keep them safe in bubble wrap, the more likely those kids are gonna freak out and become school shooters if they're bullied or get turned down by a girl. There was once a time where if a kid was bullied in school they would eventually confront the bully and fight back. One of two things would happen. The bully would realize it's not easy to bully the kid anymore so he will leave him alone. Or they both become best friends for life. I can't believe how sensitive the younger generation has become. In fact my own generation is like that as well. I've been kicked out of many Skype groups simply for using words that "offend" people. Like I already said, the pussification needs to stop!

Coming from a red neck work in progress you are absolutely right sir! Only way to handle a bully is to take them head on. Might get your ass kicked but their will be respect. Met my best friend in a fist fight

Personally I don't give a flying fuck who or what the shooter is. Of course the idiotic media is gonna be making this guy into a celebrity by talking about his entire history. Fuck him and anything he stood for. I only wish he would have offed himself to save us tax payers money!

I dont want the media not reporting the news but these deranged kids see other reports and I do believe they figure they want to be "bigger" than the last guy.

It will be interesting to see if this event goes dark as quickly as Vegas.

I guess his political leanings will determine.

I was talking to a nurse that works in Delivery and she said that they do an exam of a childs features to determine their state of health.

She is convinced that things like hemihypertrophy or the position of the eye line in relation to the ear, the shape and lines of the bridge of the nose, fall line of the ears, can be good predictors of issues later in life.

Not phrenology or anything like that just seeing things that dont compute correctly as human features, or they convey a "threat" or "error" message.

You all must have had that impression when you look at someone and there is just something about their physiology in their face that doesnt read right to you.

Again exhibit A....

I dont think there is enough correlation to act on such stuff but our instincts developed to message us a certain way for a reason.

EDIT: The explanation for this is generally considered as follows - this posting goes out after the shooting. By the time I posted it here I had searched for all 3 Clintons / Obummer / Bush / Pelosi - only Pelosi had anything out. The inference being they or their staff is ALWAYS watching coverage and if there is political gain at 150 characters or less - you do it. Pelosi proves this. Why no tweets from any one else? Later in the day after this post BC retweets Gabby Giffords. Still no tweets from Hillary. Facebook and Twitter are tended by someone occasionally reposting something old or something written about her. No info on current location or current events.

Why is that?

When and where was the last time you saw WJC?

What happened that day?

When was the last sighting of HRC?

Some folks are keeping a really low profile.......unprecedented wouldn’t you say?

South Florida. Do we give it to Cuba or deport them all to Cuba? Either way this isn’t an American problem, it’s a non American problem.

Latest report I listen to about and hour ago stated the shooter, wearing a gas mask, pulled the fire alarm. I don't know the layout of the campus and if there are multiple buildings, but listen to an interview of a student that was in a class that followed correct procedures of locking down and remaining quiet.

In an active shooter situation there are a couple of great reasons to bring an armored vehicle if you've got access to one:

Can safely approach the school in order to make entry, bringing your own "cover" with you

Can use it to shield people running out of the building and use it to evac them, either in it or behind it

Can be used to shield EMS and provide CasEvac if necessary

Nothing short of an APC is going to do those jobs well, civilian vehicles don't do a good job of stopping bullets. It doesn't help anyone to have a bunch of responding officers and medics get killed by rifle fire because the use of an APC is seen as offensive.

I agree, this is a simple concept. Surprised some here have an issue with it.

As long as I can have AP I have no problem with the cops having armored vehicles. Remember that scene in Boston with the cops clearing houses and arresting people with armored vehicles as they rolled down the street keystone cop style, well that would be an issue here in my hood

Did you guys listen to the press conference? Who in the hell was that reporter politicizing this already asking the Governor why he is pro gun and has he changed his views now?

The Sheriff had the best response. I applaud him
