Pretty much all insurance companies now require xx amount of fire break in order to get insurance on mountain properties.
I took these picture from friends FB page. This is of Vacaville, English Hills
oh, interesting tidbit of info. I was at my friends house last night who is a Sgt at work, he told me that there were no property saving efforts via air drops and we had minimal staffing with CalFire. Granted this fire exploded over night, only life saving efforts were attempted. He told me that a certain area of Napa Valley received air drops and tons of man power to protect property, that area has wineries and property owned by Pelosi and her nephew Gavin Newsom. He said there are a lot of pissed off people at the county administration level due to this. I’ve never known my friend to be a bullshitter and he has no reason to, but I thought it was interesting.

@BG94591 that doesn't surprise me... Even if it wasn't due to the Newsome/Pelosi lamd connection that area has burned more and I don't think Newsome wants to deal with that area (the people) again. Can't blame PG&E for these.
Friends and family evacuated Fairfield. I'm about 30 mins away from Vacaville. One friend is on the fridge in Napa and sister is luckily far enough away so far this year.
California is in for a long year of fires... Hope everyone can stay safe.

I agree. We have more lightning storms rolling in over the next 3 days. Guess we will see what they have in store.
I'm in NW Colorado, and it's crispy dry here. Green leaves are falling off the Aspen, which hardly ever happens around here.
We've had fire bans since July 1st, yet the assholes from the big city, continue to swarm the woods, and have campfires, even tho there are big signs posted everywhere about the fire ban. It's a miracle we haven't had a wildfire yet.

Very many people from foreign lands such as Cal and TX and places to the East have built nice places in our Mountains of Colorado where they should not have, and some are on fire now or they are running away from the fires now, and I wish them, Good Luck. Some houses have come downhill because they built in slide areas. Some have built too close to where a runoff can take them out because they built too close to the River or Creek. The List can go on if you want to? I have little sympathy for them.
Had I had the resources to build there, I would probably have done so too, but -- I was PO.-- Couldn't compete, and that is where I grew up. I bailed and went East. I did have my chances but looking back at the money, I had little to nothing, but could have worked some deals- Glad I didn't.
Now, they are on fire or being threatened by fire and all I can do is ask them if they thought about that before they built their houses and homes? I thought about it a lot, but I didn't do it. I knew better than that, Grandpa taught me where to go and where to stay away from,-- he was smart
Hopefully we will have some runoff this next year as the fools downstream need the water, but anyone downstream, pack your shit and get out of there.
Mother Nature has a way about her, She figures out FOOLS and Foreigners and treats them as they need treated.
If any of you think that it was easy for me to leave the Crested Butte area as one who grew up there with a population of around 100 to what it is today, You have no idea as to the sadness in my heart. FM

Was pretty smokey in Ft Collins this morning. One report I read said this wasn’t gonna get resolved until we get a good rain or snowfall..and its August. 
Adding insult to injury, due to Covid, all the prisoners were released including those who typically were involved supporting the firefighting teams. The budget for hiring additional help is lacking.
