Searched, couldn't find anything on this... or i'm dumb

Team glock is offering free Recoil Spring Assembly swaps for Gen4 pistols made with the old assembly. I called and they shipped a new spring. Don't have to mail mine in until the new one comes in. They even pre postage a return envelope. How cool is that?

Has anybody done this, and noticed any differences? Assuming the new spring is to address the issue of improper function using underpowered loads, and that its a few ounces lighter. Anybody here have input?

Thats a pretty convenient way of handling a product recall.

Reminds me of a part recall experience I had with a local Toyota dealer. They called and notified me of the part recall, and scheduled an appointment to have the part replaced. They said they would call when they had the part in. So, I get the call, 'come bring your car down we have your part in,' and when I drive to the dealer the service writer is all like 'oh we don't have the part in stock now' and naturally I'm pissed off and asking [why the hell they called me saying they have the part in stock to bring my vehicle in if the part wasn't in stock and they couldn't do the work?] and as it turns out someone else had brought their vehicle in and the service dept took MY part and installed it in THEIR car. This wasn't Toyota's fault but the dealer's for screwing over their customer, so I don't do business with that dealer anymore.

The fact that glock is sending you the replacement part up front with a call tag for the defective RSA is pretty good customer service. Even when they dropped the ball rushing the pistol to the market they are still able to save face and make things right. I'm not a glock fan by any stretch but at least they make the effort to stand by their product.

A little slow on the jump considering the new pistols came out in 09...
The fact that its 100% free and only takes a 2 min phone call (literally just serial # name and shipment addy) though works for me. Also note this is a voluntary recall, and has not been deemed a Safety recall.

Rumor is that the LE pistols will continue to ship with the original spring, that was designed for High Power SD/Duty loads. of +p style. Not sure of any validity to this.

with all that said i'm still looking for a S&W M&P 9.... only thing that sucks is I just waited 5 months for my Raven Concealment holster to come in for the glock...

I just asked for mine and still waiting for it to arrive. I am taking mine out of my holster for the time being and replacing it with a Gen 3 model 23. Agreed though, it is a funny way of saying "recall".

It took me about a month or so to get my replacement after Glock lost my info the first time around. The new design looks good although im not sure why they didn't do it the first right from the get go. The design flaw was rather obvious even if malfunctions were hit and miss.

I emailed my request for the new springs for a G17, 19 & 23 and it took about 3 weeks to get a confirmation back and the reply stated I should get the new springs in 3 or 4 weeks.

shitz... anybody have pics of the new spring?? I have had no big issues with the old one, but figure why not.

Looks the same as the old one. Just different spring rates I believe.
