I also saw it last night with the family for $.99 on pay per view. It is far better to pay that than the $50.00 it would have taken if we saw it at the theater. It was entertaining.

For most of us that went to OIF I had the feeling of why this, why now...he was contained more than any other dictator in the world. We don't want to run the country...guess I was wrong huh.

Anyways, good action flick but it does make you route against some Americans...not a good feeling either.

Saw it this past weekend on PPV. Thought it was way better than Hurt Locker, had no idea how that P.O.S. won an Oscar. They did lay on the politics a little thick. Greg Kinnear's character was dislikable in the same way that Paul Reiser's character in Aliens was dislikable (amoral corporate/gov't stooge type).

Finished it last night.
I know its Hollywood and not real but I am tired of the political overtones in every war movie, whatever happened to find the bad guys and kick ass, not this our guys are as bad as the terrorist shit. To my surprise I actually still liked the movie. The action from start to finish was good. The directing was great. The movie had everything to make it one of the best but the story lacked which was made up by decent acting but not enough to make it outright enjoyable. Body of Lies is still my favorite terrorist hunt movie. The biggest deal I had was not the movie itself but my brother who knows nothing of military history or much of anything else kept saying “their uniforms were all wrong because they weren’t all in ACU and they had woodland mixed with their gear.” I knew there was no setting him strait so I just tried to ignore his crap and enjoy the film for what it was. I would give this film 4 out of five stars and like the previous comment Book of Eli is my favorite this year also. JMHO

I finally got around to watching this movie. I was particularly impressed with the depiction of interagency rivalry... brought back a number of not-so-fond memories for me. I wish I could write the whole movie off as fiction, but there was a lot that resonated with me.

forgive me but it cracks me up how often people wanna whine about "making a war movie political." wtf. wars are the height of politics. pure politics in its rawest form. nothing could be more political than attempting to destroy other human beings for some governmentally contrived idea of necessity. if you join the armed forces and engage in combat that is saying that you will enforce the political will of your nation or at least the cic. right or wrong war is politics. dont like the politics, get into a different career. remove the politics and its just a bunch of sadistic murder. let the shtf from this one....go.

Matt Damon has a right to spout his anti-American beliefs all he wants. To support his liberal college professor friend that is spreading the new history of the violent rape and torture of the American Indians. I have the right to spend my entertainment dollars any way I want. That won't be to see his or George's movies.

I'm sure if you add up the billions the government has given away to the American Indian over the years and add in the income from those casinos it would make Ovitz qualify for food stamps by comparison.

The name of the college professor that Matt Damon is promoting, that has written books and has a documentary on the History channel is Howard Zinn. This is the driving force behind Damon.

What happened?

We set out to commit genocide against the people who were here before us based some idea that we were somehow superior and more deserving.

We did anything and everything we could to get them to give up. We made every effort possible to rip their culture from them and stole their children from them and placed them in schools. Taught them about a loving God while being cruel.

We stole every bit of land we could and gave them paltry piece of shit lots to live on.

We made traitors of their men by hiring them to Scout for their family and friends. (When you hire someone to turn against and affect the death of their kin, you are saying you think they are less than human. I respected the Insurgents more than the Terps with only 1 exception)

We broke the spirit of a people who collectively were known for a strong spirit.

What's wrong with challenging your myopic view of history?
What is wrong with admitting we were the bad guy?

How did it turn so quickly from the movie to anti native Americans to defend and attack anything and everything? I didn't think a movie thread should be locked but I guess I have been wrong before. And to Marduk did you even watch the movie? I understand your point but it can be done with some class and style which politically this movie lacked. Body of Lies had some political undertones but the movie had more depth to the story which this movie lacked but made up in acting and action. The Kingdom also I would say was better politically but lacking in action compared to Green Zone. Your point of view of what I posted I must say is pure shit on a scale of one to ten. I guess the word “Politically” opens to many doors for some to understand much less comprehend what was being said.

Its interesting to sit back as an "outsider" and listen to the comments in this thread.

I have read accounts of other Iraq vets stating that they were sick of all the bullshit associated with the wars in Iraq and the Ghan.

One thing I read recently, not sure if you guys have seen it, is a book called "Long Rifle" by Joe LeBleu. Was a fairly quick read, but had some interesting opinions on the tactics used in americas modern warfare when compared to those of the past, especially regarding a lack of aggression.

Anyway, I dont want to piss people off or anything, but yeh interesting thread and an interesting movie...
