Very well said. The parallels are uncanny and what's worse is even with good knowledge of the history of Germany and the Soviet Union the men in this country are still just grabbing ankles. The church is even more to blame by not wanting to get involved in politics(have they read the Bible?).

Bill Wylde was the grandfather of building AR match rifles. He actually took one of his guns to a BR match and from what I remember he won the match. It was a local club match. The BR guys where none to happy about it..... so when he showed up the next month for the monthly club match... they put him on the far right on the shooting line as they didn't like his brass ejecting out of the gun and bouncing off the guys rifle or bench to the right of him. LOL!
But yes... for the most part you don't see gas guns at a BR match.

It isn't that hard to pick up a shitty SKS rifle from a private seller.
You will find your Table 1 at basic and subsequent re-quals to be very similar to the line at Perry.
No shooting coats, no shooting gloves, no goofy shooting hats, no little stroller for your rifle. And, when it counts, nobody shooting off hand if there is any other available option.
They were designed for minute of GI at 200 meters. They are adequate for... engagements.
Certainly not a weapon of choice for a Presidential Assassin any more than a 6.5 Italian Turin-arsenal Type 38 Carcano with an ill-fitting mail-order scope package from Klein's Sporting Goods.

A few year ago... I went to an 'egg shoot' here. Mostly made up of benchresters who dialed stuff in on platforms and stands... to shoot eggs at 200 yards.
I had my TRG on a bipod. I cleaned all 5 eggs in about a minute. Prone off a bipod and using a sock bag. After being placed in 'Custom" class (for an off-the-rack TRG... well it DID have Krylon on it.) The BR guys were taking 5 minutes a shot.
For years after at our big gun show I had folks coming up and saying 'You are the cop guy who shot all the eggs that day... that was cool."
Eggs at 200 on a sheltered range from a bipod... I mean... seriously? That's not even a challenge!

I spoke with a Marine Sargeant who is currently a survival instructor... I asked him what the MOA size was for the M4's at 100 yards. I was shocked to hear that it was 4-7 MOA at 100 yards... It does have a 14.5" barrel, but geez 4-7" at 100 yards. He did add that there would be several guys shooting at the target so good odds that it will be hit quickly... I was a bit shocked. Guess I'm stuck in the past thinking about M1 Garands or 03 Springfields.
Hats off to the SH crew. Picked out the SKS as the weapon yesterday, Now confirmed.
Performance is better or worse with different manufacturers but my Norincos with a 4 power norico scope shot bowling pins at 200 with junk ammo. Very dependable rifles, but as you say, I also rate them 200 yard and in guns.
I don't know if this is true but supposedly he was a see eye A asset and tied to Yearick/Crooks.
