@Ledzep any 6mm Creedmoor load data with Rl16?
@Ledzep can you explain why these things are so finicky?
What MV?Finally got the 22 GT out today with some 62 ELDVT’s. Only running a 22” barrel but it was super flat. 2.4 to 600 and 3.7 to 750. It was definitely quicker on steel than I am used to.
I'm running a 16" curious what load you are running. Varget ?Finally got the 22 GT out today with some 62 ELDVT’s. Only running a 22” barrel but it was super flat. 2.4 to 600 and 3.7 to 750. It was definitely quicker on steel than I am used to.
3503 per the Garmin.What MV?
@Ledzep - So I'm about to load up a bunch of 174 Vt's in 308, but have this nagging thought about possible transition issues.
My range only goes to 600 so I'll be stretching these to 1500 + without knowing for sure they'll stay stable. FWIW I'm running a 10 twist so that may work to my favor. CG has to be further back on these so I'm curious & would like to avoid an ugly surprise.
Do you have any insight you could share via Radar testing r.e. transition through trans-sonic? I'm going to be pushing well past that.
Yeah that's a known issue should be fixed going forward. Typo. I don't remember off hand which is correct but just off the fact that G7 is usually half G1 it's probably .226.Speaking of BC’s, @Ledzep there’s a discrepancy in advertised Bc’s for the 6.5 100gr VT. Hornady website says .448 G1/.226 G7. My bullet boxes say .448/.266. Searching around the web shows both ways as well.
.266 lines up perfectly for me across two rifles so far.
Speaking of the lineup do you have any recommendations for load development on the 174? Also is hornady going to field ammo in it?Yeah that's a known issue should be fixed going forward. Typo. Makes sense it’s a long beast. How are these seating depth wise? Jump tolerable? I had been having some fits with my TMKs trying to jump them.In .308? H4895 (if you have or can find it), Varget, or StaBall Match would be my first three tries. I'm sure IMR 4895 and 4064 are worth looking at, too.
I doubt we'll do a factory .308 load because it'd end up being over SAAMI max COAL. I'm pushing for it to replace the 168 Amax in our M1 Garand Match load, though. No promises.

Im jumping the 100 gr 6.5 .100” in a .260 due to mag internal limitations. In 6.5x47, im jumping .050. Never even tested other seating depths, both rifles shoot this bullet regardless of the recipe.Makes sense it’s a long beast. How are these seating depth wise? Jump tolerable? I started at 42 with a .065 jump ended up at 43.8. max was about 44.8What's a starting point with varget?
It's going to be barrel-to-barrel dependent. I pretty much seat everything at .020-.060 if I can and don't mess with seating depth. I have seen a few instances where it made a significant difference but in most of my barrels that I've tested it I don't see dramatic swings in performance. I've noticed reading forums and FB that some barrels just do not like the VT's in a big way. I haven't seen it personally with my barrels or company barrels so I'd be hard pressed to say why.Makes sense it’s a long beast. How are these seating depth wise? Jump tolerable? Same thing you'd do for a 175. Probably like Tim said 42-43gr is a safe bet to start. What's a starting point with varget?
Same. This is the first time I’ve ever really messed with seating depth especially for a 308 just cause i didn’t like the performance i was gettingIt's going to be barrel-to-barrel dependent. I'll see what my G7 trued up to later this evening when I get home. When I was in South Dakota in late December hunting yotes I shot one at 897 ish with my 223 and 62 ELD-VTs. Between 200-600 yards elevation was good.I am sure I missed it but has anyone, not Hornady employees, shot 62gr ELDVT and witnessed the .199g7 BC?
Lining up my 4DOF with the BC portion of the app I get a G7 of .192I am sure I missed it but has anyone, not Hornady employees, shot 62gr ELDVT and witnessed the .199g7 BC?
That’s pretty good, definitely going to check that out for some of the DMR, carbine matches. Thanks for the response.Lining up my 4DOF with the BC portion of the app I get a G7 of .192
They are too long for AR mags unless you are going to single load them. That’s pretty good, definitely going to check that out for some of the DMR, carbine matches. Thanks for the response.
Oh wow, I did not expect a 62gr bullet to be so long. Thanks for the heads up.They are too long for AR mags unless you are going to single load them.
