I have the caldwell chronograph and was curious if it decently accurate in reporting velocities. Last time I had it out it error'd a bunch due to placement if front of my rifle. Not a bad pickup for $50. I don't mind the errors as long as it's data is correct, and just wondering how it works for others.

Manufacturer claims accuracy of +/-0.25%. At a measured MV of 2800 fps it means it could be anywhere between 2793 and 2807.

Not sure I totally buy into that level of accuracy claim.

After a brief period of using a magnetospeed, I went back to using Oehler very soon.

Now I keep/use two Oehlers.

I know others that have/had caldwells, don't know if they still have them or not.

IMO, if you need cheap, then do it, but you might check other options when you can afford to do it.
