I am not sure that I would be so gleeful if the circumstances were different. I’m guessing that 20 years ago I would view things differently. But Kavanaugh has found himself at the center of an ideological fight, the other side of which I find morbidly repugnant.

Yeah, the people of WV need to be informed that the only reason Manchin's master Chuck U Schumer released him to vote for Kavanaugh is because the vote was already lost. If one more vote would have stopped the nomination then Manchin would vote the party line.
The jury is still out on whether he will choose to uphold the Constitution when everything hangs in the balance. I suspect his reverence for Stare Decisis might exceed his fidelity to the Constitution, but that much is true of the entire judicial system, federal and states.
