Ok, back to civilization, with a couple of updates:
Friday morning I smoked a Nub maduro. Had some nice sweet maduro flavors, probably the sweetest I've tasted. No real transitions but the cigar was good enough that I'd smoke another.
Friday evening I smoked another My Father La Flor De Las Antilles toro, the 96 rated cigar of the year for 2012. It started off interesting, with some toasted marshmallow flavors I don't recall ever tasting before. The burn was perfect, but the flavor never changed and it started to get to me, I couldn't handle it much longer so when the pouring rain hit and was coming into the porch windows sideways, I called it "done" about halfway through the second third.
Finally, knowing it would be my last cigar at camp, I saved a Padron 1964 Torpedo maduro for Saturday morning. It just may be the best cigar I have ever smoked! Same flavors as the Exclusivo maduro, but more of them, and longer lasting. The ash held on for ages and the burn never needed a single correction. Every draw was intense and delicious, making me say to my self "this cigar is AMAZING" over and over again, an experience I have yet to duplicate in a cigar other than a Padron. At the risk of being a little too "Padron heavy" in my humidor, when I get more space I'll buy a box of 1964 Torpedo maduros.
A couple pics of the progession the cigar made:
And one more for the end of the week:
