Their best unit left their freaking USAF CCT, John Chapman, on an objective after he repelled enemy fire, allowing them to break contact after their lame attempt to lay down suppressive fire with an M60E3 on top of a large boulder was immediately suppressed by the Chechens, who were well-entrenched.
Once Predator footage revealed that Chapman hadn’t died, but continued to fight through the objective after his team left him behind as a true lone survivor until he finally succumbed to his multiple injuries, his Air Force Cross was upgraded to the Medal of Honor.
The SEALs tried to block Chapman’s upgrade because it exposed how they left a man behind to die alone fighting seasoned warriors, while they were whisked off. This came after another SEAL had fallen out of a Chinook, at which time Chapman directed the effort to go attempt to retrieve his body.
Meanwhile in Ranger Regiment, if a Platoon Leader and PSG leave a Private behind in training (has happened), they are immediately relieved and sent somewhere else. Like how Trump would do, “You’re fired."
Don’t get me started about Dev’s hostage rescue mission in Afghanistan, or one of their attempted recons against Somalis.
