Lapua .308 brass

How many reloads are you guys getting out of your .308 Lapua? I have a friend that said he gets 6-8 loads and he is using a much hotter load than me. He's at 45.0 Varget, I'm at 43.5 - 43.7.

I'm getting 3-4 loads max and the primer slides in w/ very little effort hand priming.

Just curious what others are seeing.

I use 39 gr IMR 3031 / 175gr SMK's (max load per Sierra's data) and I've gotten up to four loadings, no problem.

I neck size and have annealed the cases after the third loading. So far the primer pockets are doing their job. I have not seen any high pressure signs, nor have I seen any high pressure signs.

Currently at 5x with about 300 pieces of brass.
These are with 44.4 grains varget and 175smk

I had some with trashed primer pockets after 2 loadings. I think it was stuff that I got early on when I thought you couldn't over-prep brass.... Yeah, I used a primer pocket uniformed on Lapua brass. Never again.

A primer pocket uniformer should only uniform the depth, not the diameter. Sounds like something else is wrong there.

Anyway, with Federal brass I was getting loose pockets with three or four reloadings. The bolt face proves that So, based on great reports, I switched to Lapua brass. On the fourth reloading I am noticing some pockets seem a bit loose. My loads are fairly mild, 42.8 gr. RL15 w. 175 SMK, so I don't understand why they're already getting loose. I was expecting many, many more loads out of them. I'll have to see how many more I can get out of them before they are trash. If this is it, then I'll save my money and get the "crap" Federal brass from now on. LOL!

Same here. That's why I'm asking. I'm not getting any more loads than I did w/ Win brass. I never touched the pocket. Only thing I did when new was ran an expander through the neck and made sure length was correct.
