I've been told every gun has to fired that comes off the line. Maybe instead of 1 shot. They should fire 10.

That’s the dirtiest 3 round bolt I’ve ever seen.
No, they are at my friends who reloads. We did not fire reloads, but plan on reloading. I can give him a text and see if he would shoot me a picture.
Like has been hinted at, when you get a good one, it will shoot and shoot. A friend started with a Ruger RPR and did really well, even winning local matches and getting a good start in PRS with his 6.5 until he shot out the barrel. He rebarreled it with a good smith and still has the rifle, but now shoots a custome action and barrel in an MPA for his matches. My sister in law has a RPR I recommended in 6.5 and has our shot a few guys with very high end custom rifles with it.
My point is that, when you get one of their good ones, you will be well set for your first long range rifle. You do not have to upgrade it through the wazoo to make it shoot well.

I think that LRI does this, or at least they used to. You can contact them and see.

He threw the used brass in with his other 6.5s that he's been collecting. So no telling, but he sent me a picture of what's left in the box. All the rest of the ammo is still in the magazines that I do have in my range bag.

I would email customer service the pics and ask for them to send the parts if your comfortable putting it back together. If not, more than likely, just the bolt will need to go back, should be warrantied if its brand new. I would ask for the shipping label. Less than 3 shots off the shelf is unacceptable.
Someone said Ruger doesnt warrant there guns.. But thats what I am hoping to do. I'm not comfortable putting it together but I have 100% faith that my friend can. He's done tool and die his whole life and have his degree as a machinist engineer. I trust him with my life.
I'm hoping they can just send me the parts and then if it happens again I can send the gun.

Then reach out one of the vendors that support this site to get what you need, I'm sure you'll find the help you need. It shouldn't be very expensive.

Give them a call in the morning. Beats what I've had to do the past 2 mornings in a row I've been calling the fraud department of my bank as new shit comes up using older cc numbers.

After seeing the picture on my phone. I can see brass shavings. I couldn't see that earlier just looking at it. Now I don't know if the gun was causing that or if it was my friend showing me how it all works with a casing after the failure. This is all new to me so I don't know.
It means that he shot it until, after 2500-3000 rounds or so, it would no longer hold 3/4-1 MOA and he decided to replace it. I honestly don’t know what his total round count was on that barrel, but 2500-3000 is about normal for 6.5 Creedmoor shooting factory rounds.

Ha! The rabbit hole of precision shooting will have that milestone come a lot sooner than you think! I got my RPR 6.5CM for Christmas of 2017. I'm at 2600 rounds now... in just 14 months.

The excessive amount of oil is concerning as well.

Just got off the phone with Ruger. I had the option to have a new extractor sent or get a tag to send my gun in. I had them send the extractor and if it still doesn't work. I'll call back and get a tag to send the gun in.
There's mki's from time to time for $15-1800. Probably last longer than a new Ruger lol

That's what the bolt face looked like after firing 3 rounds?!?!?! This is a brand new rifle? Did you clean or wipe the bolt at all prior to first shooting it? That bolt face should not have any lube/grease on it and should be nice and clean.

And all that oil that is still on it. The only time my guns have that amount of grease on them is when they are being stored in the drawer during the most wicked spells of summer humidity.
When they are being carried or fired, I religiously make sure that all that stuff is off. ESPECIALLY the bore. That area gets double checked.
This past Saturday I was shooting with a friend who owns a Ruger RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor. He loves that rifle, and has nothing but good things to say about it, no malfunctions or issues at all.

Shit happens. My gsr came with an extractor that was oversized a bit which prevented closing the bolt on anything less than a prefect feed from the magazine. Some quick work with a file and it was good as new. Also picked up a new one for a few dollars in case i ever needed one.
I love buying broken guns. Usually get a good one for shit prices.

I'm surprised ruger sent out parts. I would have thought the lawyers would have put a stop to such long ago.
The boltface does look odd. If your buddy that reloads has a headspace comparer tool, may want to get him to measure factory vs fired cases from your rifle. Also look for ejector marks on your fired cases and if a bullet will slide freely into a fired case neck. It's not unheard of for a factory chamber to be out of spec.

I said that there is no written warranty on Ruger Firearms. Read your damn owners manual.
Ruger has customer service that is top tier.
I have seen them replace a 20 year old gun that had a bulged barrel from a reload and about 5 owners. My buddy actually bought it that way on a gamble Ruger would take care of it.
In your manual if you are to lazy to read it states that due to some legal term reason. In the USA a written warranty implies liability.
If you are in a car wreck and injured you could possible sue the car manufacturer due to the warranty implying everything is good with the car from both a mechanical and engineering stand point.
Because Ruger will not accept liability for how the gun is used, they will not give a written warranty. This is purely to protect the company from frivolous lawsuits. I personally suprised more companies don't do this..
It also states that repairs are at their discretion. While I am here to say, and others will as well, their discretion is extremely liberal.
If you dont have a owners manual, I will see if I can post a pic of one of the 5 Rugers I have. I believe this happened in the late 90' early 2000's. Could be wrong on that though.
Yea I had a little mark on my 10/22 and called to ask if it was a normal wear mark ( almost looked like a crack). They would not say another word to me, just sent me a return label. Said they would not diag over the phone.
Got it back in about 10 days. New bolt, reciever, barrel. They take safety very seriously. But they are not afraid to spend money on you either. I know old Bill Ruger caused them a lot of headache but the company is GTG as as far as I am concerned.
