Rifle Scopes Leupold Mark 4HD

I have been on their notification list for four different models--all MarkHD models.
Crickets

I got a 4.5-18 I still need to mount up from playing the notification/purchase within 10 minute game.

I would do like Hogrider and place an LE/MIL order through the back door.
Nothing should prevent them from being able to presale you a scope for when it becomes available next.
Every inventory management system allows for backorders to be placed against their stock so not sure why they couldn't...

No different than making a sale, actually its what all wholesale orders are entered in as most likely.
Not to mention it would probably help their supply and demand forecast by pulling orders like that and having them lined up.

Might turn into a scenario where you're waiting 13 months for a scope just like a Bartlein/Kreiger/Proof barrel tho, so count your blessings :)

I will give it a couple more weeks and then going Nightforce. They have a rep in my area and I was ibtroduced to him and he said he will get me whichever model I want within one week at the LE/MIL price.

Looking at replacing a couple old dinosaur MK4 6-20x TMR and 8-25x TMR with a new 8-32x MK4 HD or 7-35x MK5 HD both with PR2 MOA reticle. Just can't decide which one I really want at this point. They claim the glass is the same in the MK4 as the MK5, but I see different reviews online about that.

My main fuss over the older MK4 6-20x/8-25x I have is its just a little fucking blurry all the time, no matter what you do. No amount of parallax or screwing with the diopter fixes it and it's driving me insane. My eyes are getting older I know that, but when I can see better out of a cheap ass $140 Burris E1 4-14x Fullfield or a $400 5-25x Venom, I know something is wrong with the $1K leupolds. I do a lot of bench and steel shooting so it just pisses me off to no end honestly when you can't get a nice clear sight and reticle picture. Makes it hard to shoot small groups too when shits fuzzy all the damn time. Then throw in the environmentals like mirage and it's enough to want to throw my rifle in the pond most days.

And with that said, I'm almost shy about plunking that kinda money down on the new MK4 or MK5 just because they don't seem to have that great of glass/clarity and you're just paying for the fucking name on it.

Any other recommendations on a nice 32-35x scope that will be crystal clear around the $1500-2K mark, I'm all ears...

I'm about to take the mk 4hd 6-24 and a nightforce atacr 5-25 out to the range fri morning. I'll try to remember to post a comparison here after I do some shooting. The mk 4hd is on a colt 308, and the atacr is going on an fn 6.5cm.

I have one and it's really not that big of a deal, shot mine @ 600ish on steel without issue.

Ditto. I have the FFP MK4HD 2.5x10 on my 22-250 yote rifle, and I haven't missed any shots due to parallax.

Awesome. Guess I’ll pick one up tomorrow for my Grendel bolt gun

Why is that scope so high????? Lol
Hunting purposes. It's strictly a yote rifle, and I hunt solo, so I have to do my own spotting, which requires some fast repositioning some times. The high scope allows me to reposition, or shoot left handed, without having to worry about getting in the perfect position to fit inside the eyebox of the scope. I don't use any cheek weld at all, I'm able to just put my head In the general direction of the scope and find the eyebox easy, regardless of how I'm situated.

I took the leupold mark 4hd and the nightforce atacr out to the range today. The glass is excellent in both. Resolution was great in both scopes at 100 yards. I couldn't get the 5-25x nightforce to focus at 25 yards for sighting in. The leupold wasn't able to focus well at 25 yards, but it was a slightly better picture than the nightforce. I felt like the leupold was a hair brighter than the nightforce. Next week I'll take them out to the long range and shoot to a mile.

Perfect, thank you for the update.

I just tried calling Leupold to speak with them about the optical differences of the newer MK4 and MK5, 8-32x and 7-35x with PR2 MOA reticles, as those are the 2 I'm mainly interested in. But it sounds like the techs are out until Monday so that conversation will have to wait.

They will be going on long range hunting/target rifles out to 1200 yards for my applications.

Anyone have experience with Mark 4 2.5-10? I'm curious if the lack of parallax adjustment is a problem or not.

Im using the 2.5-10 RFP Illuminated TMR at my 3 gun competition next Saturday. I will report back regarding any thoughts on parallax/ wishing there was some adjustment.

Engagements are usually from 10 yards (offset red dot), 120-300 yards (scope) on a stage so that should be adequate for comparison on dialed at 2.5 and then up to 10 (a little overkill for 300 yards, but should be a good judge of lacking parallax and how it affects things)

Was worried about the big nob on the windage blocking view to the offset but looks like it's going to be perfect :)

Is the reported/supposed FOV/Sight Picture small on the 4HD?

Just a heads up to any future buyers, or folks who have already bought but not zeroed the scope, BRING YOUR TOOLS. My 2.5-10 must have built on a Friday, because the zero from the factory was left WAY too high, and I had tools in my bag, but not the right ones, so I was SOL. Out of the box, you can only crank down .5 mil, then you're bottomed out. I needed to come down several mil, even with a 20MOA base, but couldn't until I got back home.

Ideally, you can bore sight at home, I didn't think to do this, as this has never been an issue for me.

Simple. Disengage the zero stop before you go.

Picked up a 2.5-10 FFP from a member here and got it mounted up yesterday. The no parallax adjustment wasn't an issue for me looking at targets out to 970 yards. I had to move my head further than you ever would in a normal situation to make the reticle move at all. Clarity was really good at every distance. I got it zeroed and will stretch it out this weekend.

I took the leupold mk 4hd and nightforce atacr to thunder valley today. The fov on the leupold is a little smaller than the nightforce. When magnification was maxed I could see the 13 and 17 position targets at 1000 completely in the NF. I could see half of the 13 and half of the 17 target in the leupold when centered on 15.

To be fair Leupolds itty bitty allen screw bullshit is annoying especially since there have been 3diff sizes over the years. Also their new locking turret design can be gorilla forced if someone who is too stupid to press the button before turning the elevation knob gets a hold of it. And the threads for the windage cap are too fine imho.

They do put the allen wrench in the box with the scope. It ain't like you have to go to the hardware store. Christ who doesn't keep a small tool kit in a range bag.

People who "the event of shooting" isn't a big deal to them. If you only get out once a week or once a month, yeah, you're probably going to bring the kitchen sink with you each time, I would do the same. Me, I can go out my back door and go shooting on my property, I can go shooting with a buddy 5 minutes down the road on his property, it's not really a big deal. Unless I'm going more than 20 min from home, I almost never bring tools with me, because I didn't waste any trip to go shooting.

The point of my post wasn't necessarily a tool reminder, it was more so to bring to light that Leupold is retarded for shipping a scope that had 10 extra mils of elevation pre-dialed into it, with the turret bottomed out. Every other scope I've ever bought, I can bolt it to a rifle, and get a 100 yard zero without any tools (I'll go reset the cap/zero stop at home rather than opening up the cap in the field and getting sand/dirt in the turret lube). This scope, I couldn't even put it on the target because of how much elevation was pre-dialed into it from the factory, first time ever having to remove the cap just to get the thing on paper at all.

I have used Leupold products for about 20 years. Only had one issue and that was with a scope that I had zeroed and left sitting in a safe for about ten years while I was enjoying the middle east. Got it out and still zeroed but would not track. Called Leupold and they said send it in. Got it back in about two weeks and it is still tracking perfectly.

Only issue with Leupold is that I cannot get either a Mark 4 or 5, in the LE program. Have had several on order for three months and nothing..

I think your turret issue was a factory hickup. I would have sent it back. They are good with their warranty program.

I'm happy when i open the box and it's in one piece. And thrilled when it works and don't have to send it back.
I sure in hell aint gonna cry about it not being optically zeroed, in which i haven't gotten one yet.

Nobody is asking for it to be zeroed, and nothing has to be sent back. It's just dumb to ship a scope with +10 mils dialed in under the cap, it makes no sense, that's all. Look, I'm sure you're fine when they ship your shoes with the velcro installed wrong, being retarded means you have low expectations to begin with.

You are the one sharing how you got your ass kicked by a turret cap, and an allen wrench. You have zero license to call someone else a retard. What you relayed on here is a story of fucking up a bread sandwich. You even incorporate failure in your screen name, so here is a big piece of advice for life:
"Inspect, don't expect" and when you fail to do this, keep it to yourself.

Driving 5 minutes to go pick up the tool, and then zeroing in my backyard doesn't exactly equal "ass kicked". Mild inconvenience perhaps.

You’re a fucken football bat. Here’s some advice. Prepare a “Murphy kit” for the range. Not something you use all the time, but duplicate TOOLS!

"The range" is my backyard most of the time, or a 5-10 min drive to the other ranch down the road (which is where I was). Walking around with tools would be like walking around with a backpack full of food and water in your own house. I don't need to walk around with tools, because I can just go to the garage, just like you shouldn't be walking around with food and water, when you can just go to your kitchen.

You're too busy trying be a faggot about this that you missed the entire point where I said:

My post was a "hey, remember to check your stuff" type of reminder, because it seems Leupold is sending these out with a weird default setting.

Remember your advice?

All my post was, was a reminder for folks to do that, and you'd see that if you weren't pissing your pants about trying to make this a bigger deal than it was.

Then why post everything was such a mother fucker for you? You posted something so fucking small it was stupid to put it into a post.

How everyone sees your original post. “I went to the range and forgot an Allen wrench.”

I’m done with your juvenile posting. Do us all a favor and STFU!

This dude is still sperging about tools.

It's the internet dude, most things are too stupid to be put in posts. This entire conversation is too stupid to be put in posts. The difference between you and normal people, is they don't act like a sped about it.
