Hey guys I have a good friend (ex LEO) who asked me to put together a decent bolt rifle. His goals are primarily deer hunting and target shooting out to 500. He's on a budget and he's a lefty. Not a good combo. I put together a great budget build on the Savage 11 Hoghunter which turned out really cool. BC Medalist stock, base, rings and scope. The Hog Hunter is a 20" 1:10 twist already threaded for a break. I put it together for less than 1K since the rifle was only $450 with the throw away plastic stock. Only problem is the Hog Hunter does not come lefty. Savages only LH option is the 11 series Trophy Hunter package with the Nikon BDC optic. I can sell the scope no problem but the problem I have is this rifle has the Savage 4rd DBM and all the decent lower priced after market stocks require the internal box or converting to the internal box. It's doable but not ideal.

Any options I'm missing short of spending $800 for a LH Remi 700 and going over budget?

Thanks!

Danco...take a look at Tikka T3... You can't beat them...and they come in Lefty...accurate and inexpensive...and later he can customize when funds become available...
