Rifle Scopes March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Can you please make the Zeiss illuminated no.60 reticle an option?

I think this is the most popular reticle in Europe at the moment.

A metric 3x-24x and FFP no.60 would sell like hotcakes to hunters and field target shooters. The tactical reticles are way too busy for offhand shooting.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Put in my deposit today. Really looking forward to the scope. Not sure when my project will get done so it may get to ride a totally stock rem 700 7mm-08 that cost maybe 1/5 as much as the scope for a while.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Question (probably not going to affect my purchase, just curious):

What is the illumination like? I see it listed as 4-position. Is it daylight visible? Is it usable (not too bright) at night?

They are looking at the reticle right now. They will let me know if it is possible to do. I'll let you know ASAP.

As far as the direction of knobs, we are not changing the standard. This is the first and only request we have had for knob direction. Please if you want me to look into the stuff, please explain it, no abbreviations either! What do you want in knobs, what do you want in reticle. Short descriptions does nothing for me to help you get the product that you want. What is an OPP?

Ian... The March knobs are GREAT... Don't but any thought into changing them.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

The switches are as easy as replacing the battery. You just unscrew the illumination switch(battery cap as well) from the side focus dial and screw in the new switch. The cost is $120, but it is well worth it to expand your shooting!

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

I'd like to get a dim switch with my order then- do you have them in stock or do I need to go ahead and call in and order one now?

Thanks

I am really liking the feedback and info we are getting from you. This is why we put this stuff out here, is to get your opinion. I was talking today to a designer and we both agree that the dot is too big. We will be able to get some ideas from you guys, by showing you our ideas. The main basis for this scope is for quick tactical shooting/ man size targets. We use SFP scopes for precision paper, because the reticle is always thin. Using a FFP scope to punch paper really makes no sense to me. I see this scope as a great scope for shooting steel as well as hunting and or larger targets.

I am really trying to grasp what you guys want from a scope? The problem with an 8x magnification ratio, is the extreme growth of the reticle. It is very hard to make a reticle that is great at 3x and at 24x.

March plans on designing new reticles for this scope as well, but we need feedback first on the reticles and what is needed.

Thanks,
Ian </div></div>

Phenomenal scope: size is perfect, turrets are ideal, dot in the cross is dream came true for me.

Please make a great scope perfect: add a Christmas tree to it. The best Christmas tree comes with Vortex Razor scope, but Premier Reticules is not bad either. Christmas tree makes for the fastest tactical shooting. There are some situations when turrets are too slow.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Knob direction , standard S&B is CW ( clockwise ) rotation for increase in Elevation .

I was hoping for a solid crosshair ( ie no dot ) as I would get the un lit version .

A reticle similar to the S&B P4f

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Even if DEON is OK, the ripple affect of their suppliers could be an issue as well.

In this day and age, even the U.S. manufactured scopes may be affected by components that (even if from Germany or Austria) could have parts or sub-parts that come out of Japan. It may take quite a while before the full impact could be felt depending on stock supplies of parts on-hand. Global economy.

Kinda feel guilty worrying about a new piece of glass when these folks are fighting for their survival. Lets all keep them in our thoughts. On the upside, anything we can do to help their economy by purchasing their optics is a good thing.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

We shall see what the future holds for DEON, I believe they are more central Japan, and should not be affected by the tsunami, but the quakes who knows.
I am really looking forward to the scope however, and I will wait a little more.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

The second shipment is almost ready, should be in the US around the end of May. I am really looking forward to getting this scope on my GAP TIS rifle.

I was actually hoping I could use a S&B 42mm Tenebrex with it. I prefer honeycomb ARDs to sunshades. They're shorter for the same glare reduction and help protect the lens at the same time.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

I'm not referring to the little things you wedge inside your sunshade. I'm talking about the scope-specific models that screw directly onto your scope and look like a 1.5" long sunshade (albiet one filled with a honeycomb).

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Nope your right, while this also screws in place the ones your referring to are more like USO's ARD's. Was not aware Tenebraex was making anything like this. Thought they only made the wafer style tiny cell variety.

I don't recall offhand. Try googling Tenebraex 50NFC. They also have a 56mm version, I believe. Here's a pic of it on my F1:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Ratbert</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Anyone know if a S&B 42mm sunshade will fit this?</div></div>

FYI, I've tried and found that a 42mm S&B Sunshade and/or ARD will NOT fit the March. It's too big. I may see if I can't mill my S&B ARD down and rethread it, but all in all I'd consider it a no-go.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

I must say, though, the scope is very nice on first impressions. Seems to be everything I ever wanted in a scope. As a total package, I like it better than the Hendsoldts.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Looking into it further, it appears that the March is based off a 46mm filter thread size and the S&B ARD is based off a 47mm filter thread size. Unfortunately 47mm is not a common thread diameter so I can't just order a 46->47 step-up ring, but I've ordered a 46->48 and a 46->49 ring and am going to look into the feasibility of epoxying one of those onto the ARD to make it fit.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

Where did you find your step up/down rings?

Took mine out and sighted it in yesterday. Was a little Leary of the thickness of the reticule at first, but after sighting in and then sending more rounds down range I found that it wasn't an issue at all and promptly called Kelbly's to order another for an up coming build.

Re: March FFP 3x-24x Tactical Scope

The step-up rings arrived just now. The 46mm threads DO fit the march scope. I am probably going to end up ordering a 46mm UV filter to use as a sacrificial lens on the front of my march, the same as I do for my camera lenses. The 48mm is indeed too big for the S&B threads on the ARD. I will have to epoxy it to the step-up ring to make it work. The 49mm step-up ring is bigger still but happens to match the outside diameter of the March pretty much perfectly, so I might use that (not that it will really matter.)
