I have one like that but I can't remember what it is called. I got in 1993 and it was a mark v action with a pencil barrel and a plastic stock. Mine was in 300 wby. It had an aluminum floor plate. I still have my action but I got it rebarreled by rifles Inc and have a McMillan stock on it. If I remember correctly it was a budget mkV when the next level gun up was the fibermark. The gun below it was the vanguard.

Mine is a laser. Everybody told me you could not make a 300 wby accurate in 1993. Rifles Inc was the only gunsmith I could find to work on it. They installed a thick top of the line stainless barrel and a new stock and it is awesome except it kicks like a mule. I still have the aluminum floor plate on my gun.

Was that the Lasermark or something like that? Really hard to tell with the barrel replacement. I remember 2 differnt ones used that stock atleast.

Scratch that. The lazermark had the wood stock with the ugly lazer markings.

I think it was just called a mk v. I saved my pennies and bought the mk v stainless in 1990 when I was getting ready for my 1st sheep hunt. I have killed everything with that 257. Of all the guns I own it is the one I'll be buried with. 75 grains h1000 and 110 accubond.

Gotcha unfortunate name considering that pops up results for every other model when trying to search for it.

Not the first time I've heard h1000 is the way to go I'll have to remember that.
