I know that I have occasionally gotten a bit personal, but I don't make it a habit.
As a current LEO, I do tire from the jack booted thugs type of comments.
I am all for constructive criticism, and have no issue pointing that a brother in blue fucked up.
But some on here go out of their way to hurl some pretty disgusting shit.
It does get under my skin, but I'm a big boy and don't lose sleep over it.
That being said, some folks make it impossible to have a civil discourse.
Of course, there are other conversations that go beyond the pale, just like dealing with children, sometimes harsh punishment is the only thing they understand.

Id guess Im one of the older, both in age and time served on this site. We are the representatives of something important...those who treasure freedom and liberty above all else, even life itself. Though I wasnt called upon to do it myself, we are the ones who go bailout the weak and afraid when the shit hits the fan. We need to show up as better than a lot of what Ive seen here, my self included. If we act no different or better than those we disagree with, what does that say about us and what we stand for. There is that side of it. And yes, there are mile takers on the left who will never be satisfied until we have no rights, no guns, and no incentive to do anything other take care of their sorry asses, but we can be civil and human amongst ourselves.
Some people have already seen ban notices for "conduct detrimental to the site".
Like the ethics rule in the PX sections, it gives us discretionary latitude to deal with issues that don't always fit neatly into the black and white of the written rules.
Civilization over the centuries has taught us that the more rules we make the more people find ways to skirt around their literal meaning while ignoring the intent.
That might work in courts of law in our fucked up world, but there are no courts on this site, and I think Lowlight's signature plainy conveys his sentiment on what we say and do here.
