At this point why is anyone climbing to change a bulb?? Why not skid transfer or long line off a helo?? Hardly anyone on the commi (west) coast is climbing much steel...or wood transmission for that matter.
We have gone to LED's on our towers. Beats climbing up there to replace a big light bulb. The only failure we've had so far has been a circuit board at 100', but we only have one tower with that make. The rest are Drakes, and they're pretty much trouble free, so far.

View attachment 8523586Been seeing one in my area off and on for the past couple years.
First time you get up close to one it's surprising just how big they really are.
They are thick as crows in AK.
Here in Oklahoma, not so much. Last year, waiting for coyotes to show up on a gut pile, the birds were the first to show up. At first some random birds, then some Jays. Then a crow showed up in the trees. Then a few more and the rest of the birds left. Probably 30 crows descended on the pile. Then they all sort of acted nervous and all but a couple took to the trees. An adult Bald Eagle landed and walked over tot he gut pile and the crows backed off. Then a juvenile and another adult arrived. It was pretty cool to witness the hierarchy.
