I'm really considering re barreling to a 6.5 creedmore and switching my Chet Brown precision stock to a McMillan A-5. Does anyone see any reason not to?

Im thinking about doing the exact same thing, except go from an HS stock to a KRG chassis. I dont reload and the factory 6.5 creedmore seems to be a little easier to find right now, plus i have other 308's so it'd be something different to play with. Good to know im not the only one considering a switch to 6.5.

Any thoughts of switching to one chassis, there are several good ones on the market. Most don't require much in the way of inletting, its a simple matter of torquing 2 bolts to mfg spec. The other advantage is almost unlimited stock adjustment with nothing more then a allen wrench.

The 6.5CM has a lot going for it ballistically and its easy to reload. The only down it just having one brass supplier Hornady.

I was wanting to stick with an ADL stock. My old one is ADL and I have become accustom to it.

There certainly doesn't seem to be a downside from a ballistics standpoint. I've started considering this swap eventually as well to be able to fight wind a bit better. How does barrel life of a 6.5CM compare?

Phillip,

I think you have your mind made up on the 6.5 Creedmor. And more power to you. I plan to go to something similar when I wear out my .308.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. Who did you have your rebarreling done? Did you see a marked increase in performance wind drift wise (or even accuracy)?

There is a local smith here in town that I have heard great things about. I have been talking to him and I think I will give him a try. I'm going to take my rifle over to hum this coming weekend. we will lay out a game plan at that time.
