Nice shooting! Finally got it broke in. It was the nicest hide I've seen in a while too bad the off side apart.

Check International Barrels. They can ship bolt action barrels with no customs and they do carbon.where's the carbon barrels for these? looking to purchase one and coming up empty handed
Mine shoots like shit too. Waiting on Sig for a reply. May just put a carbon barrel on it.Dan y'all are having better luck than me. I spent all fucking day at the range with my new one today and it shoots like shit. I mean 1.5" group would have been welcome. I tried all kinds of different loads. It shot awful, I mean sprayed shit everywhere. Anyway. I posted another thread about it before I saw this one. Maybe I just got a lemon. I have a buddy with one that swears its a .5 gun but unless some shit changes quickly I don't see it happening with this bastard.
When you get a chance list the bullets that your using and the load data for the last group with the coin.Well it's looking a hell of a lot better than it was. I tried some CFE223 and the old standard 44gr of Varget. This is with LC brass and CCI 34 primers. There a 3 groups with 3 different loads at 400yds. 2 of them are definitely under MOA. I have never seen a rifle go from shooting that bad to grouping like this like that. I'm going to switch to some CCI BR2 or 210M and stay with the varget and maybe even try some new Winchester brass or lapua and see if I can clean it up even moreView attachment 7756456View attachment 7756459View attachment 7756460
Its a 308, but that load was 47gr of CFE223 and a 168 nosler CC. LC Brass and a CCI#34. That load was a little too warm though had a "hard click" at the top of the bolt lift. Plus it was like 40° that morning so I'm sure it would be way too hot when summer hits. When you get a chance list the bullets that your using and the load data for the last group with the coin.
I have had pretty good luck with the standard H4350 loads using Berger 140 gr hybrids. But those are hard to find right now.
Ok I missed that you had a .308, I have a 6.5 CM, so can’t offer any load suggestions. Its a 308, but that load was 47gr of CFE223 and a 168 nosler CC. LC Brass and a CCI#34. Yup. Also said there were other features. Im just excited that sig is progressing with the cross in January. I am waiting for the 277 fury carbon barrel to come onto the market so my rifle could be complete.24” barrel, first of its kind. What a joke.
277 Sig Fury? Interesting. I can't find much info on it.
This round (277 or 6.8) will make for a 140 gr bullet fly at 3200 fps out of a 22 to 24 in barrel. This pushes out an ethical elk shot out past 700 yds. I picked up a sierra6bdx 5-30X56mm scope with the intention of purchasing a 22 to 24 in carbon barrel for my cross. Would make it my ideal hunting setup. Been waiting a long time and hopefully sig wins the military contract so this round becomes less expensive.I believe one of the contenders for the new/next .mil standard rifle caliber too…. Albeit named differently.
ETA: likely named 6.8 (something or other)… one of several articles from multiple sources here: https://www.armytimes.com/news/2021/10/11/the-armys-m4-m16-and-saw-replacement-is-on-its-way/
and another edit: holy crap, I realize I’ve been drinking again, but didn’t realize what a necro I just pulled until I saw 35 pages! LOL
Can someone assist please?
I need someone that has the 308 to measure the max length to ogive for any of these Hornady bullets:150 sst, 178 bthp, 168 eldm.
My gun shoots like shit and I measured my chamber based on length to ogive and it is really long.
Want to make sure my gun was chambered right.
Given the slight differences in ogive measurements I seem to be right about where you are in terms of load length. I may just start all over with my reloads. This has been frustrating. Never have I had a rifle so picky. My Cross measures 2.282 to the lands. Have gotten 1/4” groups loaded to 2.270 and 1/2” at 2.25-2.26 using Sierra bullets. Assume the Hornady tool is an inch long, but never checked since I just zero calipers with it on.
what twist and how did it turn out? I am looking to rebarrel mine to 6creed 1:10 for a fast yote smoker!6CM, 22" MODBB Bartlein #2 with helical fluting
If you used Burris signature rings you could offset for windage in the rings. I've only ever used the for elevation with a 22LR, but they have different inserts to fine tune the cant to get most of not all of the evelation out of your scope. Also thought I would share some target images. This rifle is amazingly accurate for the mixed reviews it gets. Ammo used was Hornady match 120 AMAX, 147 grain ELD-M, and Norma Whitetail 140 grain at 100 yds with no wind. Optic was an EOTECH Vudu 5-25.
3 shot group with 120s, 5 shot group with the Norma, and 4 shot group with the 147s. I was breaking in the rifle in these images. My real desire was to see how the 140 grain, Norma shot as it’s my Mule deer ammo selection.
I’m really hoping to be able to get my LHT on this rifle (see above post) for some weight savings. Again any thoughts on alignment fix are welcome.
Thanks again
Make sure that you don’t have anything attached to the hand guard that is touching the barrel. Does the barrel look relatively centered. Did you install a muzzle brake?Anyone had issues with optics alignment on their Cross? I picked up a 6.5 CM version with BASS PRO’s clearance sale and was hoping to run a LHT 4.5-22, but the LHT doesn’t have enough windage to zero the optic. I put a 34mm tube optic on the rifle and found that the rifle is “off” 13 mils to the rifle’s left.
Just checking here while I’m doing some Google searching to see if anyone has a remedy.
Thanks,
BC
Probably hoarding them to only sell with their barrels. The only one I've heard of that's able to get them is Dave Tooley.Sounds like Proof has the same issue getting extensions as other barrel makers seem to have had. I wonder if Sig wants to be the only barrel supplier and won't sell any off, or if they are onboard with the aftermarket, but due to supply constraints just don't have enough extensions to go around?
I've not been able to get ahold of Dave Tooley. Been trying for months with emails and calls. No luck.Probably hoarding them to only sell with their barrels. The only one I've heard of that's able to get them is Dave Tooley.
