New Zealand’s Lesbian Navy Captain Loses $100M Naval Ship in Peacetime Disaster – Ship Runs Aground, Catches Fire, and Sinks, Unleashing Oil Spill.

I wish you the best of luck. Rather odd goal, but to each his own.
I stopped typing to some of these hillbilly homophobes , I have neither the time or crayons to explain it to them. 6 months /1 year the official accident report will come out long after this flavor of the month is passe............and 1 or 2 here will read it .

All this debate about whether the lesbian* skipper is responsible for the ship running aground can be solved by asking one question.

Would a straight-white-male captain be hailed as a hero for getting two crewmembers off the ship or criticized for the event that took place to put the crewmembers at risk in the first place?

It can be said with a high degree of empirically scientific certainty that the answer to that question would be a raucous and voluminous amount of criticism.

* Why did I have to insert the "lesbian" appellation? It's because she and everyone else that kisses the rings of the LGBTQ creeps proudly announce it at every opportunity. Remember that heterosexuals are supposed to worship the sodomites now.

Before this happened, we weren't supposed to forget that the skipper was a carpet-muncher. So now, let's not let the rest of the world forget that.

Anyone proudly calling attention to themselves for being a sodomite should automatically have their competency questioned. After all, normal heterosexuals are constantly having their competency questioned all the time.

I did it once. Even if she wanted to "see how the other half lives," I can claim that. And I am just an average guy.

I had an exchange student classmate that was a declared, to me anyhow, lesbian back in the 80s. She was German and could drink, we were both 18 and drank together, ended up sleeping together and had a fling until she returned home. I have seen her at several class reunions and every time I do, I thank God it wasn't serious, she's awful looking, mud fence awful. Her Wife is equally as awful.

Was she at least better looking when 18?

We need to form an Army/Navy of over 200,000 homosexuals on Quasi-analog ships...

USA...Canada...New Zealand...and Australia.

They will be the first wave of cannon fodder during Taiwan.

I am going to Taiwan.

They were 18 and doing a lot of drinking, doubt he cared about her looks since he was getting laid. :D

Or maybe...

There was no circumstance, when I served, for the helmsman ever to engage the autopilot. The was as “auto-special” mode, engaged from the CIC that would steer the ship and fire the missiles automatically at anything not squawking the right modes and codes. That was like a last ditch effort where too many people were dead to man all the stations.

The idea that the bridge-watch team would use an autopilot is ridiculous, especially within sight of land at sea and anchor detail. The whole thing is absurd and worse than bush league. Everyone in charge would face a courts marshal, be stripped of all rank, and imprisoned.

Holy shit, that is so much worse on the human error side than I thought it would be. The licker, I mean skipper was on the bridge and everything, and nobody could figure out why when they took their foot off the gas and kept going that cruise control was still engaged. Gross incompetence and negligence only begins to describe this shit show.

I may have been a Marine and never set foot on a bridge of a ship, but I do know from years at sea that anytime our ship came close to anything shallow or other vessels the boat would set restricted maneuvering that put a lot of extra watch standers and procedures in place to not hit anything. She said fuck that, set the auto pilot and chillax.

Love the typical nonsensical political response

The sinking prompted fears in villages along the Samoan coastline near the wreck about damage caused by the ship's diesel spilling into the ocean. New Zealand officials have said since the sinking that most of the fuel burned off in the fire and that no environmental damage has been recorded.

The current flow of fuel into the sea was a “persistent slow leak” which divers are monitoring, Golding said Friday. Specialist equipment is due to be transported from New Zealand to Samoa by sea, departing this week, to remove fuel and other potential pollutants from the ship.

Hey, now y'all got an artificial reef for your reef

What about that captain of a cruise ship who ran aground and half-capsized the ship because he was showing off to his girlfriend?

I don't think he was lesbian or any kind of DEI hire.

I am not reading through this whole thread. I do think a full investigation must be made to prove or disprove incompetence. I think the carpet munching is secondary. And even if she was promoted in order to comply with DEI, being a DEI hire is not the cause of the accident. I am not defending her or even backing up @AZLong .

I don't know if I can make the point any clearer.

I get it, they have not lost a ship since the time of WWII. And the only time they have lost one is just now. And I am okay that it turns out to be DEI hire causes problems, And I think it does.

A long time ago, before you could get you engineer stamp, you had to work in the field and log some time doing road construction or electrical work. An architect had to weld or nail on a few tails before designing them for others.

Problem was, most woman and, of course, cripples could not complete the physical work requirements. So, they got rid of that internship requirement. And so you have engineers and architects designing stuff, never having once picked a hammer.
Playboy captain is currently in prison serving 16 years . This one on the other hand is on good way to becoming an Admiral and will end up running the NZ navy given how DEI seems to be boosting carrers

The New Zealand Navy had 8 ships. 4 of them were commanded by women. 50% of the force was commanded by women when women make up only 27% of the force, 2 of them were lesbains, a tiny % of the NZ population. Do the math. Not a chance they were the best candidates for the job.
Finally, the BIGGEST, MOST EXPENSIVE SHIP, the now 100% sunk ship HMNZS Manawanui by the way first loss in 80years, was given to a rookie female commander, her first command. A former school teacher/chef, and a lesbian. How proud they were! Sigh...Maybe she was 100% the best naval commander in their Navy.

Besides they literally boasted about being full DEI and how that got them their jobs

Captain Maxine Lawes, who joined the Navy in 1985, notes the change that has occurred in Navy culture over the years – particularly with the focus on diversity, equity and respect for personnel.
“Our Navy had to adapt to a changing world,” she said. “It wasn’t easy initially but nothing worth doing is.”
“I now look at the confident, well-supported, motivated and highly trained women in our Navy and feel enormously proud that they don’t just serve in the Navy, but they thrive in it and are in command of it.”

People brought up issues and she said "It’s fine. I'm fine."

It is so much worse than I imagined. Makes you understand why the Roman people thought Rome wasn’t worth defending, and the world would be better off if the barbarians sacked the city and slaughtered everyone, because that’s EXACTLY what happened. When it came to it all the people who could still fight and weren’t completely morally depraved said, “Fuck ‘em”.

I think I might be lesbian. I bought some humus at the grocery store.

I had one. Couldn’t hear yourself think, much less talk to anyone it was so loud. The vibration in the steering wheel and the stick were severe and constant. Top speed was 70, and it took about five minutes to get there. Even coming down a merge ramp with the hammer down you were only going to hit the highway at about 45 mph. Diesel Rabbit may be the slowest car ever made. That said, when I was a freshman I drove from Lawrence KS to Chicago on $5. No other car would even approach that. On the highway it would sip gas like desert lizard sips water.

Exactly! My buddy had one that he drove from NoVa to U of Wis. for about the same cost!

Even though riding in one was like being in a steel drum full of cats Rolling through a rock quarry…

Local farmer here bought a rabbit diesel pickup c. 1979 or so. Everyone laughed at him. He is still driving it! Was smart enough to take it off the roads in winter. Who is laughing now!! (Dude is one of the richest landowners in town, too! Dairy, excavating, land, school bus company, foundations/concrete…. And still drives a VW diesel pickup.

Was the captain on the bridge and in command at the time of the accident ?
Yes, she was. From the article linked above:

The crew "mistakenly believed its failure to respond to direction changes was the result of a thruster control failure,” he said. A number of contributing factors were identified, Golding said, including training, planning, supervision, readiness and risk assessment.

The Court of Inquiry is expected to continue until the first quarter of next year. Golding said given human error was identified as the cause, a separate disciplinary process will begin after the inquiry.

Three crew members who were on the bridge as the disaster unfolded are likely to face such a process, Golding added. They were the officer in control of the ship, an officer supervising that person, and the ship's commanding officer. The navy chief would not name them.

She had them set auto pilot so she could leave the bridge and get an iced vanilla, almond milk, no soy, pumpkin spice latte with four pumps of seaman...

Dude was an electrical engineer.... And you can't spell Geek without EE.

Bench? Maybe... 36 pounds? Including the bar.

Bow kills? Doubt he could have drawn this back:

On the other hand... he helped invent the MEMS chip and MEMS accelerometer... and figured out how to mass produce both...

So he can hire people to bench for him and do bow kills... Probably has his own ICBM in a hollowed-out mountain.

Cheers,

Sirhr

PS... If you were talking about local farmer... probably could bench a tractor and likely didn't need a bow. Just the arrows. Old Farmers are like that.
