Anyone have any time on both? For the purposes of a 308 gas gun inside of 600 yards, what are the pros and cons when comparing the two? I have a LMT mws battle rifle on order and think one of these two would be the best based on a general purpose 1 to 600 yard battle rifle.

Thinking to purchase either 1 of them for my gas gun. Please provide as much inputs as possible for these two scope. Appreciated!

Ps: I was hoping razor gen 3 will have the integrated throw lever but it didn’t...

Please let us know when your review is done. You old review of the 3-12 S&B was among the best. I know the NF 1-8 is Milspec 810G rated and I dont know if the vortex since its very new but a comprehensive objective review would be very appreciated.

No data on the 1-10 Vortex, but the 1-6 didn't impress me with the failure reports I got from everyone who ran one that I knew.

I don't have much personal experience with the Gen II 1-6 other than looking through a couple at matches but everything I'd heard was positive about them. That's why I asked what failed on them in case there was something I needed to keep an eye on or note.

Regarding the question about the travel of the magnification ring being smoother than a Gen II 1-6 I can't say, I don't have one to compare it to. The 1-10 that I have does rotate smoothly though, albeit with some resistance, which I like but there are not rough spots to speak of. I hope that helps answer your question.

I take it you will only be shooting steel ? cause at 600 yards your not going to see very much detail wise It would be like trying to see the head of a pin at 100 yards with your unassisted eyes with a 3x 10 . Which or what ever you get I wish you luck and many years of success with it . .

Over the years I've seen online multiple failures of the fiber optic, as well as had friends share that theirs, or a client's, separated.

Also I know one swat officer who had one that "just went blurry" all of a sudden. A failure I also read about online.

Another friend of mine tested about a dozen of them, over many thousands of rounds. Only 1 held zero past about 5k. The rest showed slight shifts, or loss of precision, or had unfaithful adjustments, or some other mechanical issue related to zero retention or adjustment. Also tested were several nx8, and one ATACR-1-8X24-F1. None of them had issues.

The new vortex g3 has a etched reticle, so the fiber optic is no longer a concern. Also, the internals now are different as its FFP. This said, I'll be a late adopter due to past issues I have both read about, as well as had friends personally share with me.

Interesting info. So none of the NF ATACR 1-8 models had that issue, but the vortex 1-6 did? Hopefully the changes made in the gen 3 ffp version fix those, however rare they may be.

Any other models in this class of lpvo for gas guns that you know of reliability info data? Like the kahles k16i?

K16i I've heard issues with. QC seems to have slipped since HPS days.
Leupold mk6 and vcog 1-6, I spoke with a gentleman that kept up with 20 of each that were issued. 4 vcogs broke and 0 mk6s, in about 6mo.
Nx8s had an odd issue when you dialed past 10 mils or so, the parallax shifted. It seems this was an early issue. Mine doesnt.

Everything can have an issue. My mk6 1-6 had black trash slowly spackling the vision field. It would reflect illumination and was annoying. I've seen mk6 3-xx scopes with off center reticles. NF seems to be the safest bet, imo.

I am very interested in how this new vortex holds up though. I've got high hopes.

I listened to an art bell show about this very thing. I believe men in black suits were seen picking up the scope and quickly leaving the scene in roswell, New Mexico.

No, havent heard anything about it. Noone I know is issued or uses one.

I’m still debating this vs Atacr 1-8. For some reason I my mind NF is more robust.

Also, since Vortex is being made in Japan, not sure if the virus situation will delay the shipments

I am a few months away from being able to buy one, but am leaning vortex as of right now. I think I want to wait for these to be on the market for several months before I make my final decision. How are you leaning?

Honestly ATACR a bit but its tough to find any reviews on them. The Razor 1-10 seems like a great option at a lower price point but its also new, great company but new. Tough/Great time to be a consumer with many great options. lol

I'm just saying though, if you are considering the 1-10 vs a ATACR might I offer up a third option? I was so far impressed by the 1-10 and the quality of it even on their prototype model that the finished was awesome! Great glass and performance. But I kinda steered toward the ATACR on the eyebox in terms of reliability. Now if you are not deadset on a FFP 1-8/10 I suggest looking at the new Kahles 1-8 they just released! That scope is fantastic. Great eyebox, dead-on performance, lightweight that I'd use it for my gas gun in a heartbeat. The Austrians did a fantastic job with the newest edition!

So am I! The v1actical estimate of october seems years from now with how fast things are moving each day, so I am not too worried about it. The titan defense quote of March 30 is the one I am far more concerned about, since I spent more just to get one in my hands quickly. I hope this stupid virus stuff doesn't delay the shipment, but we will see.

As you can imagine, it is going to be a while before I can afford to buy a new scope after paying for two lmt rifles! I figured I would start my research now though, since it doesn't seem to be a clear answer and both scopes have their pros and cons.

Decent amount of time with both. I think the ATACR is great, but I think the 1-10 is pretty hard to beat with what all you're getting for the money. I do think the ATACR has a little better resolution and a little better 1x, so if it fits your budget and you want the best, get the ATACR but if you want to save a little money and get a little extra magnification, the Razor is a fantastic value. One more thing I will say though; the 10x on the Razor has a pretty right eye box as should be expected, so I think it could be tricky to use unless prone or mounted, or if you're just using to identify and then back out to engage.

K16i illum will appear much brighter on the dot-based reticles (3gr, G4b, Sm2) than the others. It is still not as bright as an NX8, but the scope in most other performance factors is so far ahead of the NX8 that I think it is worth your time. I went from K16i to NX8 and back to K16i again.

I love everything about the Atacr except the FOV, on paper it’s “narrower” compares to others. But in real life, does it appear that way?
