Rifle Scopes Nightforce ATACR. Complete failure!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Seems to be a lot more "my vortex/nightforce is broken" type threads lately. That is my observation.

Vehicle temps get obscene out here in the desert. I won't hold my fuckup against anyone.

I ask all of my interviewees if they have a backup plan to get to work in the event of mechanical issues. I am a car guy that is meticulous on maintenance and even I had an alternator randomly shit out on me. Guess who hopped in his second vehicle and made it to work on time....

If people don't have a backup plan, then their primary plan probably wasn't great to start with.

Not sure why the OP is getting so much flak for not having a backup. He clearly stated that he had a backup scope in the OP.

Would have been nice if NF could have sent him a loaner, but that's not their policy so it shouldn't be expected. Not sure if having other people call NF is a good idea either. FWIW, I see no issue with your first post reporting the problem however.

In any case, I feel sorry for the OP because he selected a quality optic with a reputation for reliability. Unfortunately, defects still happen and his happened to fail at a very inconvenient time. I hope his hunt goes well with his backup.

I am still curious what happened to his scope, because there are some other folks who claim the similar issue with 7-35 F1 regading zero stop here on the SH. No one came back and report what was wrong...interesting.

So a guy should have a back up car for the once in 5 or 10 years when his car breaks down and can't get him to work. ? No thanks, I will call in. A good plan is exactly what the OP did originally, buy something with a reputation for reliability. It does not always work out, but I am not going set up my life around every unlikey under important situation. If you can't spare somebody for 1 day when their car ever so rarely breaks down, you need to hire more people, or diversify workers skill sets. Do you have back up employees if all your employees don't show up?

If I was interviewing you I would ask what’s your secondary plan when your at work and you have a vehicle mechanical failure, during an emergency when you have to get home to your family...

If I’m having mechanical failure on my truck I’m calling out of work to fix my truck. Yes my truck gets me to work but it also gets my family around and many other family related chores. Work can wait. It’s a job, I can find another if the boss is going to be a dick.

Its not like we term people for having their car break down...but we like to hire potentially responsible workers and it weeds out some that aren't ready for the real world. The medical field isn't as forgiving as others.

Ironically, your answer would likely get you hired. Congratulations.

Hell yeah I got a job!

Parallax Dial.

I just got the Nightforce ATACR 7x35 and it's GREAT... EXCEPT, the Parallax Dial is no where near close to the shown Distance.

I'm a long time PRS shooter.

This is my first high level NF.

My older Vortex Razor Gen II Parallax Dial was as accurate as you could ask for!

Is this a RETURNABLE issue?

Is it normal to read 150 on the Dial and yet be perfectly parallax focused at 850 yards??? And NAIL the targets...

I don't really care about the Dial... I do care if that's an indication of a hidden internal issue!

I will be doing a Tracking Test early this week as well and I'll be calling Euro & Midway tomorrow.

The clarity is the best I've seen.
I'll be going for 2000+ yard targets!

Any input from you guys on this matter is much appreciated.

The numbers on parallax knobs are estimated not guarantees. They are there to get you in the ballpark to adjust. If you are going to 2000+ your gonna max the parallax anyway.

Yes. That's true.
It's not intended to be a range finder!

I've just never had a scope show 150 on the Dial while shooting 850 yards with perfect parallax.

First timer on this scope.

I was a bit surprised .
Its not unusual. On my Steiner M7 if I set the parallax just past the 200 mark, I have zero parallax out to 1000.

Both my 7-35 ATACR,s do exactly this... :)
