Kudos to Melissa at Mile High Shooting. She made ordering an AT easy and enjoyable. No fuss, no muss; even remembered me from a call a few weeks back, asking questions.

So now the wait begins...

I'd like to know which Spuhr (0 cant) would fit a S&B 5-25x56 closest to the barrel on the 308 I have on order. Will the SP-4001 fit and have clearance for Butler Creek covers?

Has anyone that ordered from Mile High received the call yet?

I don't believe Mile High has them yet, they were not expected to ship out from AI until May 2nd. While I would love a call, I wouldn't expect one yet either.

Maybe Tom could shed some light on if they were shipped yet, but I would expect that they have to be shipped to AINA and then from there get shipped to the respective dealers. (Just a guess, I honestly know very little about AI's distribution)

There is no dovetail on the AT. Spuhr is said to be making a lower mount though.

One thing folks should keep in mind with this is due to the design of the stock and cheek piece you have to run a scope higher than just clearing the barrel on an AI to get a sight picture. Judging from the mounting heights I've had to use in the past with an AW, AWSM, AE MKI, and numerous AICS stocks, the factory rail with low rings should be about perfect if you don't want to utilize the NV mount. You shouldn't have to run the cheek piece up much if at all.

There's really nothing wrong with the high mount. If you don't like the way it looks, well do you want a hard use rifle, or do you want a looker?

I simply wish we knew if the Spuhr base was going to be canted or flat. I'm trying to get everything in order so that when these arrive (hopefully very soon) that I can hit the ground running in both 308 and 260. I would like around 30 MOA for a mount, but I don't see how that will be possible unless a 10 MOA rail is made as I am getting ready to pick up a Spuhr mount to swap the S&B into for this setup. I guess realistically it will be a choice of 20 MOA or 40 MOA total with the factory rail depending on what mount I go with. What are you guys planning on doing for rings on your AT?

From what I know, Mr. Spuhr was debating both flat and multiple canted bases. I would prefer a flat base (to be as low as possible) and then use a Spuhr ISMS in the cant I want.

My AT, Pale Brown, folder, 24" bbl w/ brake arrived last week. Now my AI/AE has a companion. Overall impression is rifle is built like a tank as one would expect from AI. Frank was right regarding the height of the scope base. Its not an issue as AI stocks are high anyway and the cheek piece is thicker than the one on my AE. I did have a a Leupold ERT 8.5-25 with a H58 reticle initially on the rifle but ended up putting an NXS 5.5-22 X56 on. Using NF 1.00 rings with a NXS 5.5 -22 X56, I didn't have to raise the cheek piece at all for proper cheek weld. First trip to the range, after boresighting and zeroing with 3rds, 1st 5rd group using RUAG 168 gr target measured just under 1/2" at 100 m. That was rds 4-8 out of the rifle. Needless to say looking fwd to seeing what it can do with hand loads. I am currently using the Parker Hale bipod that I had with my AE. Its a bit high and was considering an Atlas with the spigot. Not sure about the length of the Atlas but for those that have used both, is the Atlas lower than the PH, if not I will just get the attachment for the Harris.

How much do you want for it? :D

The ATs are showing up? I wonder how far the AXMCs are behind?

Both are in the wild in Canada and parts of Europe. They have not quite made it stateside yet or at least if they have I do not think there are any customers who have received them. Hopefully very soon those who have been waiting will start getting their calls from their respective dealers.

Here is what mine looked like at the dealer today. Put the 6 Creedmore barrel on and played until dark, didn't get ant pic of that show.

Please forgive me guys, but are the AT's worth the extra coin over a MKiii if the end user is not going to use the quick barrel change feature... I'm just looking at picking up a no bs, reliable piece of kit that will be used and used hard. Seems AI's own that title and I may be ready to drink the AI koolaid...

An MKIII has a lot of great features, but the AT is definitely a leap ahead in terms of small useful features that collectively all add up to make it a fantastic package at a great price. Quick change barrel, flush cups, accessory rail options, better low-profile hinge mechanism, 6 lug bolt, use AW mags instead of AICS, bonded action like an AW. Essentially it's like getting an upgraded AW at a slightly higher price than the AE used to be. The AE is a great gun in its own right, but the AT is definitely the next evolution for AI.

Much appreciated.... seems I have slightly been swayed to the AT :)

K_4c,
I have an AE which now has the AINA 6.5 CN bbl on it and have had an AT now for two weeks. Both the AE and the AT are hammers but ZM pretty much covered it. Rather that retyping... ^what he said, you will not be disappointed.

Well men, I pulled the trigger on a AIAT/pale brown/20"/.308/folder/non threaded. My plan is to send the rifle down to Beanland to have a 6.5/260 rem spun up for it and thread the original AFTER I put a few hundred down the tube.

Little note for any other service member that is going to purchase one, contact Eurooptic and ask for the mil discount... I saved enough to fund another barrel;)

AI barrels a supposed to interchange between rifles and they do. But most smiths want the rifle to check the headspace of your rifle for the best possible job they can do for you.I think most will turn a barrel to AI spec if you want that also.

So awesome, mine came in. I hear Euro has some more in stock ready to ship guys, go get em!

Now i'm looking forward to AINA turning out some 6.5cm or 260rem Bartleins for it. :D

For the guys getting your AT's. What bipod are you planning on using. I have a Parker Hale on mine now with the spigot but not a big fan of it because its too high and lots of play in it. Considering an Atlas with the spigot attachment but from the looks of it it won't be any lower than the PH, maybe I am wrong if someone can confirm. I may just get the attachment for the Harris. Any thoughts or considerations.
