Wow, they are that far behind on orders? Wonder what the eta is on the a-1 models? </div></div>
From what I understand, what they are shipping now is kind of the A1 model. In the coming months, what you get now will be the base model, and you will have the option to customize it with the cheek rest and/or the padded butt plate. In an earlier thread it was stated that all chassis' manufactured in the past 6 months are milled and tapped for the cheek rest.
DTA can then say that they are selling a customized product, which is ingenious. People always tend to pay more and value a "custom" firearm vs a run of the mill. Take Wilson Combat for example. Their products have doubled in price over the past 2 years, and it takes like a year to get your "custom" 1911.
Better get em now folks because in a couple years they might be asking 15k+ for a rifle just like AI is now. I can't believe those folks are dropping that kind of coin for a fancy stock. It sure is sweet though. No disrespect AI people... Yes I am jealous that I can't afford to give 17k for a rifle, 3 barrels and a fancy case to put it in. I wish I had it like that. If I did, I would probably get a SRS, an HTI, a bunch of conversions and enough loading supplies to feed it for a year instead.
Nick, we are very fortunate to have you step in the game...
