Magnum cartridge? Carbon barrel? Lightweight rifle? YOU ARE DOOMED
This is my hunting rifle for my 2023 hunting season, I've made a few updates on the rifle from learnings from last hunting season. Biggest change is a proof barrel as I plan to run a suppressor this year, as my tinnitus isn't getting better. I also switched out my traditional m5 bottom metal to "hunter" bottom metal with an internal mag release. The way I carry my rifle, I probably ejected my magazine 10+ times hiking last year. No more butterfly ears for a mag release for a backpack gun. I shaved over 8oz off the rifle with these changes too.
I feared I ruined the barrel during install, but I shot a 5x5 in 30 minutes last night(that's fast for a hunting rifle), and averaged 0.78 MOA shooting hastily and with not great ammo. Best group was 0.44" worst was 1.26" with a certain flier, most were .75". Can't wait to run it with a can so it's a bit less punchy as I'm recoil and sound sensitive. I said it.
Suppressor will be a kgm r30 if it clears jail, and if not a sdn-6 upgraded to ranger 7. Heavier by a few oz, but tinnitus. I'll be getting a shorty k suppressor for hunting specifically soon, but I need to cool it on suppressor purchases right now.
As shown without magazine it is 10lbs 6oz. Loaded it will be right at 10lbs 9oz. Without bipod, we're at 9lb 11oz. Both shots last year were from a tripod so bipod is looking sus.
