Quietest (least loud) 100-115 yard gun/ammo that isn't suppressed? Shotgun and AR15 are too loud for my yard (7 acres, neighbors aren't that close).

Yeah, except nowhere in this thread did I do that. I actually did the exact opposite, I thanked everyone for the advice, and deferred nearly everywhere. Could you please quote me, wherever I either argued with someone or told them they were wrong.
You won't find it.
Big bore air rifles can be a bit loud. I would think in air rifle land at the ranges talked about you would want .35 or larger.
I suggest a .38/.357 single shot rifle with .38 Special frangible bullets. The velocity is subsonic and the bullet will break up on the ground, making it as safe as can be for your uses. If you can find one of these rifles with a 26" barrel, it will be pretty quiet. I am thinking a gunsmith could get a barrel liner to convert a 36" Marlin Goose gun for your use.
I've got a Rossi lever action in .38spl/.357 mag, that I load .38spl up to just under super sonic out of a 16 inch barrel, quieter than a .22 LR, but hits much harder....
Cat Sneeze loads with cast bullets is a great way to go if you cast and reload.
Well, we have beat a path around the long end of the bush. The logical choice is 22 Magnum.

That's a good idea actually. What is your zero distance and how much bullet drop if you misjudged distance?
I tell myself that this is why I got a 38/357 lever rifle, you can hear the conversation with the wife.......No honey this is perfect for the things eating your chickens, (I called it the all you can eat chicken buffet). You already have a hundred different guns, can't you use one of those....well I am a little shy there, I think a 22 is a bit soft for the bigger mammals, and the next step up I have is 223 and I think that is a bit much. You shoot that out back all the time. Yea I do, but into the backstop I made, not in who knows what direction, this is just a hand gun cartridge so it is much better and less likely to go through.....Fine.
Trying the same thing on a Ruger 77/357 right now, you know old eyes and a scope on a lever gun should be a crime against god......she just sighs.
I think it is sport for her to try to see me come up with a justification......last time its cool worked fine.
My rifle is zeroed for about 60 yards, now I'm going to have to shoot it at 100 yards and report back, oh darn

No suppressor, for varmints/neighbors, you want .17 HMR or .22 Hornet. Other options are .300 Blackout Subs, or 8.6 Blackout. But really, at that point, I'd also look at .44 Mag or Special in a lever, loaded subsonic. Others have suggested suppressed PCP, and they are right, that is a great solution that won't bug the neighbors.

It's not a firearm so no permit / license needed for the suppressor. Does NY State regulate non-firearms?
9mm AR shooting a 147gr subsonic round. Put a can on the gun. I shoot them 100+ yards all the time.

As Others have already posted, is ONLY 1 Correct Answer for NOT suppressed , and burning powder for 'The most quiet ' . Also deadly accurate 100 yard and +Plus farther depending on your setup .

ALL Can put their hand on a Bible and swear it's ... 22lr 40 grain match, with a long barrel ( example 24" - 26" ) with a bloop-tube .

If you out of sight I’d suggest shooting your air rifle on weekends etc “like it’s normal”.
Then when the time comes 1 shot in the middle of the day with a 22 is nothing out of the ordinary…wow that was a loud one.
Hudson Valley, it's somewhat rural, very few neighbors. I can shoot anything I want, legally. I hunt deer in my backyard with the loudest 223 in the world. I spent the afternoon in my yard, tuning the gas block/ejection on my 6.5CM AR10 that I just finished building - it was crazy loud and no one said a word, and it was totally fine and perfectly legal. But I'd like to see what I can do to bring the decibels down, as much as the laws of physics allow, that's all.

If you're regularly shooting from stationary position, ie balcony or blind, you could build a "shooting tunnel". Used with a muzzle brake, even a half decent one will lower the noise considerably downrange.
I prototyped one with some 15 inch pipe, 6ft long and wrapped it with some acoustic wall insulation, and wrapped again with chicken wire. Looks like absolute dogshit but made a 300wm sound like a 223.
It fell apart pretty quickly though but proof of concept was there and I'm drawing up something that will take that sound level down to rimfire level.
(Why not suppressor? My overlords/nanny says no. But this has its advantages too. I can sample/test any rifle without attaching a supp.)
Love this idea, and I mostly shoot from a seated position, often in a blind. Of course I cannot attach any kind of muzzle device, in fact I cannot have barrel threads accessible. But if I can build some sort of box to shoot through, which won't immediately catch on fire from the muzzle flash, then I'd certainly give that a go
I drew inspiration from this. I'm actually thinking of incorporating a magnetospeed in there as most of my centerfire use on my range is just data collection and development.

I also found that placing a small wall (about 6ftx6ft) about 10ft in front of the tunnel, with an appropriate size cutout, further reduces the noise downrange so I'll be making that out of cinder blocks.

Your best option is the silver bullet...

What's a suppressor doing? (acting like a muffler, meaning what?) Lowering the escaping gas's exit velocity and pressure. So you need to start with as much of that (little of that) as possible. That's not going to come with something most people these days call "flat shooting". Fortunately you don't need one to hit things way out yonder (it just makes it easier).
....that being the case, a "firearm" won't be your tool of choice..... bow, airgun, traps are the most "logical" options.
If you can get within 50 yards a .22 short may work. I have an old roll block that is somewhere between a pellet rifle and .22 lr decibels. A one off shot just is not heard by the neighbors….at least round here and I have 5 acres. If you can pair this round with some digital nightvision equipment like a Sightmark Wraith I think you’d be pretty lethal on the critters in an after dark stalk situation….you can probably get within 10-20 yards….hell we shoot hogs at 30 at night when the wind is right with the thermals.
If you take a 22 rifle and counter bore the barrel to a bigger size for the last several inches of the barrel, like .300 inch or a little bigger it works just like a suppressor but it isn't illegal as it is not a device that decreases the decibels of the shot. You just have a bigger bore.
9mm with 147gr and 2.5gr of Vihtavuori 310 is very quite. Sometimes in a USPSA match, the timer will not pick up the shot.
But still, a subsonic 9mm coming out of a 9mm AR with a 16" barrel is pretty quiet compared to many other guns.
Same effective range as any old 12 gauge with a good choke tube- with a good coyote load 60 yards is realistic. It's basically just a 25" barrel extension with a few gas port holes drilled. They claim it helps patterning and drastically reduces recoil.. It also has standard remchoke threads on the end.
$280 shipped no nfa BS. Site needs to be updated the only one they're selling now is 25" made in USA 12 gauge rem pattern. I'm not affiliated at all just stumbled across it on the web and called up the owner to chat.
I assume it needs a 26-28“ barrel to be somewhat effective- if not it would be a hoot on the keltec ksg.
