Hey guys,

I've got a savage mk 2 that I've decided to turn into a rimfire precision competition gun - I can shoot 1" groups at 100yd with CCI standard velocity out of it.

Currently it sits in an oryx chassis with a Diamondback tactical 6-24, riding an Oryx mlok bipod.

Here's what I DON'T currently like about this setup:

-Balance is terrible
-Scope won't focus at max zoom beyond 100yd (100y is even a bit borderline)
-Bipod is terrible

Here is what I am planning to change in the next month or so:

-Full length ARCA rail
-CKYE Pod
-Stick on Wheel weights jammed into forend
-40MOA Rail
-Mlok side panels+Weights (if required)

I'm not sure exactly what to do about the scope - I may just leave it for now and see what happens later.

What do you guys think? I'll post a photo when I get home from work.

Thanks,

CHOMPS

Mine. It kicks ass for being incredibly cheap.

Lets us know how things turn out and show us some test targets with good ammo!
I started my most recent foray into precision 22 with a Savage, and for what it is shoots far better than it should. People complain about chintzy magazines, weak extraction etc. but I have been at plenty of matches where guys with guns over ten times the price had MORE functional issues than my savage did.
You can’t hit targets and enjoy your day with a temperamental rifle.

Get a steel DST Precision “Da Rail” for it. I have yet to see a rifle not balance or get very close after installing one. It gives you the Arca capability and an extra 4.75 pounds of weight.

1/2 inch x1 inch x10 inch brass bar stock from Ebay fits perfectly into the forend channel of an Oryx, remove the sideplates and pin the bar stock in with screws, reinstall sideplates...adds almost 2lbs out front, $20 outlay and simple install. Add the factory arca rail and get a cheap bipod, cyke pod crazy expensive and totally unnecessary for PRS22...NRL22 a worthwhile investment, PRS not really. Use the cyke pod money to upgrade your optic, way more bang than a cyke pod. Some careful use of a ceramic stone and proper trigger adjustment will add hits also....good luck and enjoy.
