The waiting is always the hardest part. I figured your action would have shipped way sooner considering you ordered it the last time we were out!

Making a hanger for steel is a PIA. Id just buy the 4x4 bracket and call it a day.... although, I do like the way Dirtdarts and QQ react when hit. Mind just make a sound and flop once. Its up to you on the size, but maybee go a little bigger, like 60% and up so we can start working out twords the 750 - 800 mark?

I didnt go yesterday, I was pretty busy reloading tho!

By the looks of it I think it can be extended to the right height.
Going to grab it anyways and I can always cut and paste to make it work...

Build Update: Woody texted me today, my action has arrived.......

He seems just as excited about the build as I am.

It will be 12"x12" cut from 1/2"
The Skull is not in stock. Hopefully it gets here before my build is done.

I'm looking at maybe trying the range out in the next couple of weeks. I live in Naples and currently my scope is in for a reticle change but I would like to try a little longer targets than the 200 static range I usually go to.

Can someone fill me in on the operation of the range?
I checked the website but I was a little confused?
Does the range provide the steel targets?
How often do you go cold to check the targets at the extended range?
What type of orentation do I need to go through?
What is the best day to go if I've never been before?
What are the advantages of being a member if I can only propably shoot once a month?

Would someone like to meet me there to show me the ropes?
I've always been a deer hunter and would like to get into long range shooting and maybe a few matches. I got a tacticial rifle built last year and need to get out of the office to send some lead down range.

Steel @ 565y (left side 4" swingers,right 6" gongs 4" swinger) and 1k+ 8" & 10 gongs and occasional fire extinquiser @ 565y

Its simple go in the office say its your first time
here he will have you fill out a short form and say you
want to shoot to 1k its $23 or 4 I forget and they also give
you a target so you can check zero.

Walk over to the RO say you are shooting out to 1k and they
will place you at a bench/prone(Ill be bringing orange cones this time.....

).

All their steel is fair game no matter where they place you.

Going cold happens every,I dont know for sure, 20-30min? maybe less.

Some of us bring our own steel and we ask to put it out at
different distances. I would say the RO's are all pretty cool.

Sunday is the best day,for us anyways since we all work during the week.
Sat is usually some kind of comp.
I hear Fri is a good day.

We will be going out soon......as my new build is done...SOON!!! I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE....ARGH

You can set a chrony up right in front of you. Right on the line... guys do it all of the time. I know there is a 200 yard range that might be a little quieter, have to ask Gene when you get there though. Ive personally never shot on the 200yd range... I think its around back by the pistol ranges.

Alan... I might be able to go the 5th. I will not know for sure until the 4th tho.

Steel came in I think it might be a tad short to setup at
800yds?......

And a couple pics of my new girl.....I think Im going to go
with a Burnt Bronze Cerakote for the action/barrel..for now its just krylon.

I think I fixed the target stand height issue....
Middle of the skull measures 54" from the ground

I can extend it up to any height that is needed.
Just hope glavanized steel holds up to the splatter or
a direct hit....if not oh well.
It should at least last one day at the range.

Actually it worked out for the better
I got a chance to finish something Ive been putting off
Now I can fund a suppressor....

Templar Tactical GB going on with Ti cans for $700 or maybe $600(hopefully) Im in either way.

I did.

Got everything zero'd and was able to ring some steel. Guy next to me had a 338 edge Fclass rifle and that thing had some serious MB. it was hard to focus. IT got really buzy later in the morning with the guys showing up with the gun show purchases.

I forgot my chrono so I need to go back and run my loads.

Here is a pic of a session Over_watch,James and I had on the skull @ 600yds.
I dont think the thing stop moving the whole time.
OW started out with his semi just pounding it as I was spotting
then I jumped in then James jumped in with his semi and all 3 of us
just pounded it, one right after each other. It was rocking and rolling...

The galvanized pipe did an outstanding job as a target frame.
No splatter damage at all but the right support did take
2 direct hits,entry holes but no exit holes,there is a little buldge but thats it.

I also got a chance to drop my rifle off at Woodys to get Cerakoted
Burnt Bronze.....I hope it looks good with the OD Green

Nice looking rig Al!

Think I'm going to redo mine in the same fashion. The angle brackets I put together are just too damn lightweight for my liking and I doubt they'll hold up as well as the wood.

The pipe looks to be the best way to go short of welding something demountable.

Sorry to have been so scarce the last couple months. I've been swamped with work and any free time has been devoted to getting my daughter squared away and off to college in Alabama. Looks like there should be some time to do some shooting.

I hope to join you guys soon though I also have neglected my reloading...

I might make it out,but it's not looking to promising as of right now.My other stock has not made it in yet,and i already pulled the Mcree off the 260.To set it up for the boy on the rem 700 in 223,also looking for yet another scope.To put on the 260,any suggestions guys.

Also i will let you guys know if i come across any other really good deals,so one of you can jump on it and my wife doesn't kill me for buying to many toys

Figured you were really busy with getting your daughter set to
go off to school.

The splatter was my main concern after seeing what it did to
wood.
After some abuse it still looks brand new beside for the 2 bullet holes.
No chunks taken out of it at all. Still very smooth.
